Confused about a serial number and motor

I am looking at a what I think is a 1976 or 1977 Mercury 110. The owner is selling this for 80 bucks. It is seized but I'm thinking of a winter project. However, I asked him for the serial number and the number he gave me (9149957) belongs to a 1977 4 hp Gnat? Mercury outboard. I cant find much...

I followed this guy for a bit but I had to get away from him. No tie downs on his boat. He never slowed down at train tracks or pot holes. The motor and boat pounding up and down. It was breaking my heart. Some peoples kids....:facepalm:

How do you all lift your motor off and on the transom, and other stupid questions.

Stupid question. I just purchased a 1977 Mercury 850 outboard. I hooked a strap to some come alongs and lifted it out of my truck and on to my stand. I got it in the same way. I put the strap around the lower cowl openings. Is there a way to strap on to the engine to lift it? I want to paint it...

Anyone use these or have seen these trailer hubs?

Has anyone used or have seen these trailer hubs? They look really cool and use 90 weight oil instead of grease. The price of these is awesome too. I'm going to be replacing my 4 bolt hubs to 5 and came across these beauties. I am intrigued.

Nautolex vinyl on a new fiberglass deck.

I am rebuilding my '78 Gypsy and am thinking about going the nautolex route. It looks nice and should last years. My question is how level does the deck have to be? Does it need to be sanded smooth? Has anyone installed this stuff? It's this or snap in carpet, one of the two. And yes, I know the...

    Aqua Meter Tachometer

I got this cool Aqua Meter tach on ebay. It's brand new, never used and still in it's box. I came with Aqua Meter brochure and literature. I'm not sure if it's the original piece in the original box or not but it looks nice. It may not work on my Merc. It's hard to buy these tachs online because...

    1978 MFG Gypsy Rebuild

I was lucky enough to score this great boat, but as it usually happens, these old boats are not suppose to be used after the purchase. These boats need to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch. After much inspection and deliberation, I've decided yet again to boldly go where no man should have...

    1976 Mercury 650

Hi All. I just purchased a near immaculate tri hull with a '76 Merc 650 on it. I'm picking it up on the weekend. I've not heard this run but the owner tells me it likely needs a carb kit, which I expected. However, is there anything I should be aware of with this 3 cylinder outboard? Any know...
