    Yamaha Motor swap- Same linkage?

I was wondering if the linkage on an 2004 90hp, and a 2011 115hp outboard has the same linkage? I want to upgrade the 90 to a 115. Assuming it is, but not sure.. Thanks.

    Sierra 3-Pole ignition switch -Help

Purchased a switch for my 4-stroke electric start 40hp outboard. Fairly strait forward... It cranks, runs, but when I turn it off it does not kill! According to the pic do I have it connected correctly? Should the black w/yellow stripe go onto any other? Kinda stuck.. Thx 3

08' Merc 90hp --Ditching The Oil pump/going mixed fuel..

Sorry for the huge size, I can't seem to figure out correct sizing on this site. The prop size is a 17-pitch on a 17 Trophy, fiberglass CC. Looking at the piston it looks like it crumbled. Flaw in design? I put the spec pistons in Wiseco in. Looking at the pistons, could be an oil issue...

I have a 2008 Mercury 90hp looper, "ELPTO" . SERIAL: 1B712639 Just a little history on this motor, a friend bought it and it had blown the top piston into pieces. I am helping him rebuild it.. I had a local machine shop bore the bottom two: .20 and the top at: .30. WE both don't have much...

No Spark on #2. Sensor Related?

2000 Mercury (Manual) 40hp, 4-stroke, tilt assist, carbureted... I have no spark on my #2 cylinder and as little of a wiring harness that it is, I've taken it off the motor and ohms checked all wires. I took great care checking the wires on the #2 and all seems well. I don't like throwing...

Weak Spark in 00' Mercury 40hp Mercury

I have 2000 Mercury 40hp Mercury, 4-stroke with pull cord motor. Very basic. I am having weak spark. I have changed CDI units and the problem still existed. Trouble is the ohms numbers are in spec on the stator. I checked the 3 coils and they tested in spec as well. I ohms checked the...

    "Excessive" Oil In Gas!

If you don't mind me asking how does that contribute to signaling the system for more oil? Is it pressure related? Just want to understand how it works. Thx

    "Excessive" Oil In Gas!

I thought that might be an issue, but didn't want to tear it all apart but all connections are snug and no gas dripping out any where. I just saw a video it doesn't look too bad. I appreciate it.

    "Excessive" Oil In Gas!

1987 Johnson, 140hp, VRO outboard is really oily and coming out of the carbs dripping everywhere especially when tilted. I added a picture of the gas and immediately thinking of the oil pump/mixture "thing". Is this an easy fix? I'd like to consider pre-mixing the gas to by-pass this issue. I...

    2003 Honda 8 hp won’t start

I agree with the above, "CARB".. Also, along with cleaning ALL jets and passageways with compressed air, check your valve lash to be sure that you have adequate clearance for proper compression.

    08' Honda 150hp 4-stroke Heat Alarm

Update: SO after running a series of Salt-Away product through, I also brought home some De-scaler 'LimeAway product' from work and ran that through the flush connector at a 20% mix (pretty strong stuff) and then let it run and rinse with fresh water pretty well. I wanted to knock out some of...

    1995 Mariner 60hp cylinder compression

Given the year, I would bet that your rings could be getting worn and or gummed up with carbon (or need replaced, but would require that re-build with a good criss-cross honing). You could spray a [little] seafoam into the cylinders to throughly work into the cylinders and allow to pre-soak...

2000 Mercury BigFoot 40hp- -Voltage Check

00' Merc, 40hp, 4-stroke, BigFoot, w/tilt assist, Model # 0T008095. I'd like to test my CDI voltage output due a little spark, but my outboard is a pull start. The manual states 1500rpm in hopes of achieving 18 V. Does the pull start matter and would my reading be any different? Is there any...

2000 Mercury BigFoot 40hp- -Weak Spark

I have a really nice and very clean 00' Merc 40hp 4-Stroke (pull start / Carbed) motor that I rebuilt a few years ago and use it primarily on my duck boat during the winter months. I had noticed that it was becoming hard to start this past year, but thought it was dirty carbs. Being 'fairly'...
