It is tucked away as you said
That tank is not approved for confined spaces. Sure ain’t gonna pass muster with the coast guard, the dnr , or the local water patrol.
The tank won’t be too heavy to pull out and check, after you burn off half the fuel. You should have a pretty good idea how much...
Same here.
True, you may get a little electrolysis if the water is in a connection ( a poor connection ) for a long enough period of time.
But it will not cause a short and blow a fuse.
Fresh water is simply to poor a conductor to do that.
You could set your battery in the lake, or flood the...
The one installed, looks to be about right
Can’t get much shorter.
Does the cable and helm move freely when disconnected from the motor?
The cable bracket on the transom is for use with a motor that doesn’t have a tilt tube.
You need to find out what each color wire on the TOP harness connects to.
And the corresponding color wire from the Force motor. Then splice them together.
FYI: wire colors changed over the years for both Mercury and Force. So first identify the year of both motors. Then locate wiring diagrams...

Sure Lube hubs have the zerk on the outside, AND the old grease is expelled thru the outside of the hub alongside of the spindle.
You may have Super lube, or EZ lube, redi lube, spindle lube, or ? hubs.
