    Baja boat identification

Awesome thank you. It was bothering me more than it should have 😅

    Baja boat identification

Came across a listing for a "1993 Baja 24.5", but looking online, it didn't look like any 1993 baja boats I saw. Having trouble finding anything with the two windows that looks like this one. I was wondering if anyone here could help identify this boat. Maybe the owner doesn't know what he has...

23-24 foot vs 26-28 foot pros and cons?

Problem is finding the dead rise angle without taking a protractor to the actual boat...also what about the transom shape at the bottom? The 232 has a flat spot on the bottom instead of a point. Not sure how that is going to affect the ride. I had read that dual prop outdrives make them...

23-24 foot vs 26-28 foot pros and cons?

I wondered about this and had read that dual propeller outdrives make them quite useable with a 5.7. I am still looking for a 7.4 preferably, especially on the bigger ones. Dual prop outdrive is necessary in my mind as well.

23-24 foot vs 26-28 foot pros and cons?

I really liked the crownline 266, by the layout of the 232 captiva was a bit better. Neither had a good place to store skis 😩

23-24 foot vs 26-28 foot pros and cons?

I think that is our problem. We want a versatile boat that can do most things. More day cruising than overnights but more comfort if waves get 2-3 feet than we have now. More freedom less worried about the weather for things like diving. Leaning toward the 27 foot range Cuddy cabin, but if there...

23-24 foot vs 26-28 foot pros and cons?

I always look in the engine compartment to see what a nightmare it will be to maintain. Looking at single engine, preferably with bravo 3 or duo prop. Any experience with the flattened bottom of the transom? What's the purpose/benefit of that?

23-24 foot vs 26-28 foot pros and cons?

Upgrading from a 1987 sundowner 195 Cuddy with a 4.3 merc and 20° dead rise at the transom. Initially we were looking at something like the rinker captiva 232 or sundowner 225 (in the year 2000 range) with the wrap around seating. We went and looked at a crownline 266 ccr, and I really liked the...

Prop diameter effect and planing trouble

I used a 15p prop, and it wouldn't stay on plane very well after coming up on plane in rough seas. Will this not be a problem if on calm water but pulling a skier? Also with a full boat would going down in pitch help?

Prop diameter effect and planing trouble

The sad thing is the boat has Bennett trim tabs. Maybe I'm using them wrong. They were on the boat when I bought it, but I push them both down. I don't know that I have verified that down is actually down

Prop diameter effect and planing trouble

We are looking and ready to upgrade when the right boat comes along. When that happens, I'll just list it for next to nothing to get it out of my driveway. Considered doing just this, but decided against it because it is a big job, and I don't really know what I'm doing. I've got the...

Prop diameter effect and planing trouble

Insurance for me is $140 for the year. I do my own maintenance. Very little cost aside from fuel and towing fuel to be on the water.

Prop diameter effect and planing trouble

I know it is performing poorly. Low compression in one cylinder, but we are saving for a different boat and don't want to dump a bunch of money into this one. Was hoping to get some compromise on performance with a prop change to get us by a season or two.

Prop diameter effect and planing trouble

Never heard that perspective, but it makes sense. So maybe a 17p 3 blade for towing sports? To much lift? Ugh! propellers are so complicated lol

Prop diameter effect and planing trouble

The overloaded boat is a few times a year thing, but still trying to pull a skier out is challenging with 3 on board. I thought going down in pitch would make that better, and the 4 blade design even more so. But it seemed to not be the case with 2 adults and a 7 year old yesterday.

Prop diameter effect and planing trouble

I thought 4 blades helped plane faster and hold it better. Is that wrong? Planing is the issue I'm trying to fix

Prop diameter effect and planing trouble

So I've been having trouble with planing since I bought my 1987 four winns 195 with a 4.3L. It had a 23 pitch prop when I bought it, which was way too high, so I bought a 4 blade 14x19, which was better (33mph wot with 2 adults and full tank of gas @4600 rpm), but with a loaded boat (5 or 6...

4.3 motor swap with truck engine

😂 I sort of feel that way myself. I was not looking forward to the swap, but I have put so much time into it already I feel like I'm invested.

4.3 motor swap with truck engine

I couldn't tell what was knocking. It sounded like it was definitely coming from the engine compartment and was loud enough that both my wife and I heard it and looked at each other. It was very random sounding. Not cyclical at all. Just rattling chaotically. Always right around 2000 rpm. No...

4.3 motor swap with truck engine

Sooooo....the admiral convinced me to go out for one last hoorah before I started this swap in case I completely botched it. Last season it ran low on oil, and I didn't realize it until I heard a knock mid acceleration (right around 2k rpms before appointing normal again). I was able to recreate...
