    alaska cruise

Have you done any previous cruises? Where? Do you just want to do a cruise or do you want to do a land/cruise? Most land/cruises include the observation train from Anchorage to Denali. Other itineraries are available. Do you want to do a round trip or one way? Most Alaska cruises start/end...

    alaska cruise

Yes, we’ve cruised Celebrity several times and have attended the on-ship preview of the Galapagos cruises. Up until just recently, Celebrity had 2, even smaller ships that sailed there, one that carried 48 and the other only carried 16 passengers. They are no longer in the fleet as of the past...

Just curious, when you went, which ship did you use? If I win the lottery, I’m booking Celebrity Flora

    alaska cruise

Lots of options available. All of the cruise lines offer land and cruise packages. When we went, we did the cruise with Princess, but we did all the land stuff through Alaska Tour and Travel. They handled everything from the time we got off the plane in Fairbanks until we got on the ship in...

    alaska cruise

Yes, quite a few shops, are not just staffed, but are actually owned by the cruise lines. Spent a couple days in Denali Village, and we were told, the Village completely shuts down mid/late Sept and doesn’t open back up until May and yes, pretty sure most of the shops there are owned by the...

    alaska cruise

Even before we did Alaska, we did an Iceland/Greenland cruise we really liked a lot. One trip I really want to take, but pretty sure it‘s outside of my budget, would be a cruise around the Galápagos Islands.

    alaska cruise

Just went on one last August. Flew into Fairbanks, took the observation train to Denali, spent a couple days there, observation train to Anchorage. Spent the night, got on ship and sailed to Vancouver. Spent the night there and flew home. Great trip. I suggest checking out, cruise critic dot...

I have a boat I want to sell on Craig's list.

Do yourself a favor…go to Facebook Marketplace and forget about Craigslist. 7-8 years ago, wife and I started to get rid of “stuff” as we were planning to downsize. First couple of items, I advertised on both. Got WAY MORE hits on MP so I just gave up on CL. Sold lots of stuff on MP including...

To Drain Or Not To Drain

It would be nice if we heard back from the OP on this. What is his location? Does he leave the boat in or out of the water?

To Drain Or Not To Drain

Sounds like the OP keeps his boat in the water. If that is the case, it would have to be really cold for a couple of days before any damage would happen. I’m in VA and while I always winterize, we have had a couple recent winters where I probably would have been safe not winterizing since my...

To Drain Or Not To Drain

My opinion, a lot more rust will develope when you drain. Leave the water in

Deep Cycle Battery not good for starting??

I’ve had 5 larger boats, 2 sailboats with small diesels and 3 motor yachts, all with big block V-8’s. All I have ever used have been deep cycle batteries. Never any issues.

    Fuel Water Separator

Cloudy gas is often a sign of fuel separation. Not good.

    Fuel Water Separator

Good suggestion. I even replaced the O-Rings in my fuel caps just to be on the safe side.

    Fuel Water Separator

A few years ago, I had some fuel/water issues and had a professional fuel polisher come to the boat to take care of it. When he pumped fuel into a clear container, the line between fuel and water was obvious, very distinct and immediate. There was no question. We could even look thru the...

    Fuel Water Separator

Water and gas separate pretty much immediately. No need to wait overnight, but if it has a slight amber color and smells strongly of gas, sounds like it is gas.

    Shingles

Get the vaccine. Shingles is not something anyone should have to suffer with and in many cases, the word suffer is an understatement. I’ve seen too many friends and family get it and they are miserable and not just for a few days. My wife had it on her face and it affected one eye. While...

Oil pooling in the bilge, sounds like there’s more going on than just a cooling issue

    1990 Bayliner Avanti Fuse panel

I would be very surprised that a 35 footer would have a fuse panel underneath the helm. Most likely, it will be out in the open in the main salon/galley area, behind some kind of door, either hinged or sliding.

    Mercruiser overheating

Just a thought… go to YouTube and watch a video on replacing the T-Stat to make sure you are doing it correctly. It’s easy to put it in backwards. Don’t ask me how I know. But, as I mentioned earlier, see what happens if you run the engine without the T-Stat.
