    1978 Islander 22 I/O

That is some nice work and pretty wood. Almost a shame to have to cover it with a motor, but guessing it look just as good SHSU

Moving right along!!! Really like how the hull looks on the new trailer. The motor mounts look like they will last a lifetime with what you are doing. Keep up the nice work!! SHSU

Man that is nice. I run out of Galveston bay and power wash after every trip. Thought you had a secret I could use, but yours is unique to your location. lol SHSU

Since you are in saltwater, any spray down/cleaning when you dock? Curious how you handle the corrosion on the aluminum hull. SHSU

Rechargeable running lights, I never thought of that but makes sense since I seen them on kayaks and stuff. Smart move to limit wiring. SHSU

Can't hurt to plug. Biggest issue is keeping wood damp and not letting it dry out properly after it gets soaked. SHSU

I work on my 1974 Evinrude and enjoy it. Toyed with a new 4 stroke, but cost makes me question why when I have a working motor I can fix. Like new cars these days, you need a computer with OEM software to fix anything.... SHSU

    1978 Islander 22 I/O

If you do use it in saltwater, carpeted bunks holding the saltwater next to the hull isn't good. So something to keep in mind if you do ever dunk it. SHSU

Nice find. I wish I had the room to store stuff like that, but then again I would have another project boat at that point.... lol Nothing like working on your own motor to know how to troubleshoot/fix. A lot cheaper then a mechanic, if you can find one that will work on these older engines...

I have Starboard on my bunks and run them in 48" lengths. Works well for me and slick. Only complaint is if you are power loading and they aren't in the water, does a number on your hull/rivets. You going to use the boat in saltwater or strictly freshwater? SHSU

I only have one zinc on my motor and replace every couple years. I would only put one on and keep an eye. Unless you got a major issue or leave it in water near other boats that get shore power you shouldn't have an issue. Trailer queens like ours don't have the same risk. SHSU

    1974 Starcraft 21’ Holiday

So pretty!!!!! Like the skin and remember all the 5200 with every rivet. lol For its 2 cents... Internet suggests adding epoxy to prevent the wood from absorbing it all prior to glue up, but then I would want to apply my thickened epoxy when its still tacky so you get the chemical bond. I...

    198x SS-150 rebuild

You don't want to do the jump seat box? Figured since you were going to do a pedestal, a single seat would work out. SHSU

Why not just make a seat box for the passenger side? Gives you a little storage and allows placement without stringer interference. SHSU

I have a sliding seat and still not enough. I even modified it to move the seat further back on it then it was designed. Still not enough. As for the backing plate, not sure I follow what you mean. Can you use a bigger backing plate or move it? SHSU

    198x SS-150 rebuild

30 inches to center of seat mount or front of mount? Mine is 30 inches to center and wish I had another ~8 inches. The steering wheel will jut out farther then you think and hit your knees. As for the medal bracket in the way. Can you install a rivet nut where the bolts need to go on the...

    198x SS-150 rebuild

I am 6' 2" as well and can attest to hitting the dash/wheel. Didn't plan that out very well... lol I kind of "fixed" it by going to small steering wheel. Definitely have to muscle it around, but works for what I need. As for the T- nuts, I epoxied mine in and ran a tap back through it to...

    198x SS-150 rebuild

Sucks but was bound to happen. At least the paint correction will be easy with what you have on hand. I ran into the same issue. I decided to go the other way and get taller rather then shorter. The window is to short to be of much use unless you are really low, plus it removes so much of...
