Extending trim switch to engine cowel.

Trouble with that diagram is the power is from the ignition switch. Needs to be ran from the power at the circuit breaker. That way it has power all the time unless there's a battery switch??

Tap into the leads before the relays. That's low voltage and won't overheat the switch.

    Attempting a motor rebuild

Not sure you can re-sleeve this motor. Parts are available. Check Wiseco pistons. I've had good luck when I use them.

1989 force 85hp shift pivot screw

His has the Vent/Fill screws. I use them, but once it's full I go to the vent and add until it comes out the other hole. Then repeat it a couple of times until all the air's gone. The 88/85's I had(4) all weep'd at the drain plug no matter what I did to stop it.

1989 force 85hp shift pivot screw

Your very lucky you got it back in right. Test: have someone spin the prop as you try shifting the control. VERY IMPORTANT to spin the prop, you can do damage to the linkage and control if not spinning. Spin, shift and it should go into gear and lock the prop in both directions. The drain plug...

Extending trim switch to engine cowel.

What I thought he asked for was putting in a switch in the cowl so he can tilt from the back of the boat.

What would make a flywheel hard to spin? Starter won't spin it.

Just sillycone the old one back in(if possible) then do a compression test. The top of the piston can look great but if the rings are seized that can throw the comp off. On the stbd. side are the port covers, you can take them off inspect the rings.

Bilge Pump Replacement - 1988 Bayliner Capri

That pad is a glassed in piece of fiberglass. Shouldn't rot, ever!! Lots of people use silicone to mount a pump and switch. Just make sure the base is dry. Oh yea wrong forum, you need the first thread in the forum. I've worked on hundreds of Bayliners all makes and sizes. Tech at Stammers...

Extending trim switch to engine cowel.

You'll need a 3 way and wire it to the existing wiring under the cowl. The 87/88 started putting the relays and wiring under the cowl. They make a heavy duty 3 way switch to handle the load(might need it????) Remember Blue lead is for UP Green lead is for Down

What would make a flywheel hard to spin? Starter won't spin it.

(He said his best guess would be the cylinder timing was off and was creating high compression pressure preventing the engine from turning over.) I have experienced this in automobile engines, when changing the distributor, but never in an outboard. Put the gasket back on, use sillycone and let...

Most common problems with 4 cyl / 3cyl chrysler outboards

The new is a lot different than some of the older variety. The old recirc system would just dump the fuel overboard.

What would make a flywheel hard to spin? Starter won't spin it.

New parts go bad in the package: bought 4 Tempo fuel balls. All 4 bad. Testing stators: they can test good but still be bad. :(

Most common problems with 4 cyl / 3cyl chrysler outboards

Only one way to know if the recirc system is working: take it apart and check the screens and the small nipples for clogs. A welders tip tool to clear the nipples. A can of carb cleaner with the small red tube to flush the nipples.

What would make a flywheel hard to spin? Starter won't spin it.

Should have done a compression test before removing the head. Low comp on 1 or more cylinders can cause hard turning.

    50 hp tiller conversion

You'll have a heck of a time finding parts. Best bet is find a motor that has the tiller already.

    85 HP Force Trim/Tilt Inconsistent

The T@T system has a couple of relays that the connections go bad. Take them apart and clean the connections on EVERYTHING!! They can be gotten at a good parts store like Napa where they have a parts person. Not a store like Advance or o Ryley's

    85 force propeller replacement

Next time just send the old prop out to be reworked. I think just about all boat sales places can get that done. Not sure anymore what the cost is but way cheaper and absolutely no rehabbing on your part.
