    Pressure tank repair...

I have an old two line pressure tank that has a small hole in the bottom... Maybe it was set down where there was a rock or something.. I did not notice until I removed the cap. The vapor lock was brken and it started leaking underneath... Can a tank like this be welded? Shame to chuck it...

    Too much motor?

I own an old 1953 Aero Craft 14' Aluminum boat. The transom has a 3' wooden piece (almost like a 2x4 but not as thick) horizintally on the inside and a trapezoidal piece of marine ply on the outside. I am wondering if I can use a 1958 18 hp Fastwin on it. I have two 1955 7.5 Fleetwin's but I...

    57' 18 HP Fastwin

I picked up a motor today at a garage sale... Ugly lower unit with a rough weld job and several nicks in the prop... Owner "claims" it ran last summer.... We have heard that tune before too... Anyway, did not pay much for it and it came with a good two line tank (worth more than the asking...

Prop shaft concern... 55 Fleetwin 7.5

Had a small oil leak at the lower unit... Decided to replace the spaghetti gasket and include some gasket in a tube for good measure. Before I did this... the prop shaft would spin very very freely (with a pinky finger) Now it still turns but requires a bit more force... Not sure why... I took...

    One step forward... two back

Had a small oil leak at the lower unit... Decided to replace the spaghetti gasket and include some gasket in a tube for good measure. I dropped the skeg and cleaned everything then as I was putting it back together... The guts came dropping out. I cleaned all parts and reinstalled them...

    major gas spill!

I noticed that the bolts on the skeg might be loose as I saw a small bit of oil at the seam where the two pieces meet. The motor was on the transom so I just lifted the prop as high as I could and standing behind the boat ( like shoeing a horse ) on the trailer I began to tighten the bolts. My...

    Gear Case Head Seal leaking

I just rebuilt the lower unit on the 55 Fleetwin about a month ago... I saw a very small amount of oil leaking near the prop and thought it to be the spaghetti gasket. i just replaced it and decided to pump a bit of air into the top filling hole while the lower was sealed. I noted a bit of a...

    Is this normal?

Just rebuilt the lower unit on my fleetwin. Took it out to the lake and it ran like a dream and shifted perfectly. Overnight I lost maybe an ounce of lube on the floor.... I checked the screws and they did need a little tightening. Now it is full again and a very very small amout seems to...

    Prop pin question

I have rebuilt the lower unit on my 55' 7.5. When replacing the prop... I noticed that the pin that secures it to the shaft will slide right through... The rubber cap will keep it in there BUT I don't think it should be that loose. When I took it out, there was some rust and I sprayed some...

    Gear Case Head Seal?????

How do you remove this thing... I have tried prying it from the front, punching it out from the back... Only an inner spring has fallen out and the seal is now deformed... It is really in there... Any suggestions? Also the repair kit came with a couple of other "o" rings... The big one I...

Hey Guys... I am trying to be good and do things by the book. Problem is, I have no book! I tried buying an online subscription through iboats... They don't mention that it starts in the 1970's. Then I called SELOC. Their paper vervion starts in 1956. I have a 1955... Might be ok. I don't...

I drained the gear assembly on a 55' 7.5 Fleetwin. Light Greyish Sludge came out. What are the steps to correct this? Will I need to remove the power head? If so, is this a good time to replace impellor too? Thanks in advance for your assistance. :) tc

    decarb through the pressure tank?

On my 55 rude 7.5... I've read the post regarding mixing seafoam and 3/4 of a gallon of gas and running 15 minute cycles... I have a 6 gallon and a smaller 4 gallon spare tank.. Can I run this "blend" through the pressure tank? And I assume I first make the 3/4 gallon gas mix 24 to 1 before...
