    When it was running at idle it was smooth no misses it was when under load it started to jerk and stall, if I throttled down it would run smooth again.

    I took the coil wire off the distributor and had no spark to the distributor so I think the trigger is ok. Or hoping it is.

    It was replaced before I bought it and was working up to the time the motor quit, I think maybe sucked up mud when trying to start the boat, we drifted up to the shore. Like I said I'm new to this and trying to figure it all out.

    Which one is the motors serial number. I was told the motor was a 79 by the person I bought it off of. But mechanic said it was a 74. I do know it is an 1150 or 115hp mercury. Thanks in advance. Also these are the only numbers I could locate anywhere on the motor and transom mount.
