Flywheel center hub

Now guys don't yell at me, this was my stupider days. All this happened a while back

When I didn't have a puller, replacing the stator just required removing the 8 bolts that secure the "outer" flywheel to the center hub.

I then needed to replace the trigger, ahah... you...

    poppit kits

Are there any places you can order a pressure relief repair kit (spring, poppit, diaphram, gaskets?) without going through merc's parts express. They are so expensive.

I know places like iboats and seliermarine.com have very cheap ignition components (much cheaper than merc) but they...

Water stopped flowing out the tell-tale

(V6 200hp 88'). Started it up today and had a full stream out the tell tale. Opened the boat and I noticed the pee stream was very weak. I stopped and it didn't improve plus the water that was coming was hot, could only keep my hand in it for 5 seconds max. However, temp gauge indicated that it...

    CDI rect/reg. woes

In previous post I discussed how I recently installed a new CDI 9 amp stator. I noticed that my batteries were charging at 16-17 volts at idle and 18+ volts at WOT. I replaced the rectifier (no need for a regulator as it is a 9 amp stator) but this didn't help.

I finally installed a...

    Just replaced rectifier

I just replaced the rectifier, part OE # : 582399, on my 87' 60hp vro. Brand new starting battery, and it is getting a charge in the 14.6-15.5 volt range. This is normal isn't it, considering its a new battery.

-andy

    Wiring diagram 87 60hp vro?

None of the wiring diagrams in my Seloc manual matches that of my 87 60hp vro. At the electrical bus on the starboard side there are more wires than in the seloc manual.

In addition to the 2 yel stator wires, 2 yel rectifier, 1 gry, and red. I have two purple (ignition switch to 12V)...

    Stainless Steel Thermostats?

I just bought two new stainless steel thermostats for my V6 88' Black Max. My initial though was, whoa the stainless steal thermostats probably last longer. Now thinking about it, stainless steel in aluminum with salt water....was this a bad decision. Comments?

Thanks-
andy

VRO, low oil sensor won't stop buzzing

VRO, low oil sensor won't stop buzzing This is an 87' 60hp johnson vro. The low oil sensor keeps going off (every twenty seconds or so) but the oil tank is more than half full.

Also, can you still purchase gaskets for the carbs. I just got a CDI rect/reg #194-5279. I have an 88' V6 Black Max. Where have any of you mounted this in the past? Don't want to be drilling holes where I shouldn't be.
Thanks-
Andy

88' V6 Black Max getting up to plane

Recently the engine has received many new ignition components including a trigger (you will see why I mentioned this later). I also did a carb cleaning and reassembly with new gaskets. This was all done because all of a sudden I couldn' get up to plane, engine bogged down and I also lost spark...

    Rectifer woes with CDI/Rapair stator

This is an update post for my rectifier problems.
Background:
I have an 88' V6 200hp merc (Serial # 0B303415). My stator recently went and I replaced it with a CDI/Rapair (CDI P/N 174-5456). This is "supposed" to be a 9 amp stator. However, my mercury rectifier (MERCURY RECTIFIER #...

    Warning alarm won't stop buzzing.

Motor: V6 200hp 88' carb, oil injection disengaged, no warning module on the port cylinder head.

I just installed a new quicksilver wiring harness. The warning buzzer has a tan/blu and purple wire coming out of it. The tan/blu appears to come from the wiring harness that runs to the...

    New Battery and Switchbox Woes

I've been told in the past that a brand new battery has the possibility of frying a switchbox. This actually happened to me 2 seasons ago. The engine ran, but it was time for new batteries. Put in two new batteries, and one of the switchboxes died. Replaced it and was good to go. I just got a...

    Rectifier/Regulator is fried, right?

Yesterday, i noticed the voltage output of my rectifier/regulator was 17V. My batteries are fresh and charged. Probably time for a new rectifier/regulator right? The stator is brand new from CDI/Rapair.

I actually recently just replaced the stator, could the bad rectifier/regulator...

I have a 88' V6 200hp Merc. I just replaced the trigger assembly and have been informed that a lync & sync is in order, but the seloc manual's description is way too hard to follow...they bounce from one engine to the next without telling you (I just don't feel comfortable doing a lync & sync...
