How to Remove Outer Inch of Floor - Without Hitting Hull

OK, I got a 3in circular saw and it made quick work of the floor, except near the edges. How do I remove the outer edge without going into the hull? I have left 1-2 inches around the perimeter in fear of going into the hull. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Fuel Line - Female Connector

    1968 55hp - Rebuilt with Flat Tops - Impression

Just an update on a post from months back. I had my motor rebuilt and later found out they used 1970s style flat tops. There was some concern here that the loss of the dome would lower compression ratio drastically causing poor performance. Well, my inpatience and curiousity got the best of...

68' 55HP - Newly Rebuilt Engine Runs Cold

Newly rebuilt. The shop noticed that the thermostat wasnt opening while running in test tank, tried several thermostats but attributed it to cold water in their test tank. So, I started the motor with the muffs today, and after idling for about 5+ minutes, there was almost no water coming out...

    Center Stringer Wood Wet

Ok, as started on the subject in a previous post, in removing part of the floor to patch hull damage I decided to take a look at the center stringer (as I replaced floor and 2 outer stringers in 97, this was an original and boat has had water problems since new - 1968). Cut into the side of it...

Anyway to Replace Center Stringer w/o Removing Floor

Ok, This boat received 2 of 3 stringer replacement and floor replacement back in 1997. Repairing Split in Hull

Okay, in 2007 I attempted a repair on this split from the outside (6-8 inches long). I used alternating layers of matt and the light woven cloth. Now, since I feel like this is a shoddy repair, Ive begun removing a section of the floor so that I can repair from the inside. So my...

Stiffening Cap of Closed Bow Boat

My 1968 safetmate is a 15ft closed bow. The trouble with it is the cap is flimsy and flexes up and down when hitting waves. Is there any way to stiffen this up to make this area not flex noticeably? The cap has some wood glassed on it underneath for some structure, but its clearly not...

    Question About Transom Replacement

I have a 68 saftmate 15 ft and am considering a transom replacement. My initial question is do I have to cut out the floor away from the transom in order to complete this project? Note that the stringers are not attached to the transom (floor and stringer replacement several years ago)...

    Performance - 1988 60HP vs. 1968 55HP

OK. This fall, I opted to get rid of my 1988 60HP and re-purchase the 1968 55HP I had previously (lighter motor, matches year of the boat, had put much work in in previously). I had the shop rebuild the 55HP, 0.030 over pistons, rings, pins, rods, several other items (spent way more than is...
