Question(s) about replacing the foam/floor in my deep-v

Some advice. Take plenty of pictures for reference and don't destroy anything that could serve as a template for something you are content with just replacing.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Yeah I have $360 for the thing. I made a highly technical contour gage to decide if this had enough meat to make it fit the boat. Just got to get the spacing and level right.

Question(s) about replacing the foam/floor in my deep-v

2lb is more for floatation. The heavier types are for strengthing assemblies

Question(s) about replacing the foam/floor in my deep-v

Yeah deck goes in then drill a few strategically placed holes in it and pour the foam in. The foam is a 2 part product that when mixed reacts by expanding several times its original volume and will fill a space rather quickly when done correctly.

1988 Bayliner Capri 1950 Resto Begins

Is yours a cuddy or a bow rider? I'm doing a 85' cuddy I'm nearly finished now. The transom on the 85 was 2" thick in the center.

Question(s) about replacing the foam/floor in my deep-v

The foam is only needed to maintain enough bouancy to keep the boat at or near the surface in a swamped condition. The boat would float just fine without it. Is your boat aluminum or fiberglass? I would avoid treated wood for any boat projects. Though I have used it in past with no issues...

The newest addition to the ongoing project. Should make egress to/from the boat easier.

All that is clear. I think the problem was up top with the air doors for the secondaries. The gasket for the air horn was fouling the movement. A quick trim with a razor blade and its all smoove again.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

This is a rochester q-jet BTW it only has one bowl. Secondary jets are all clear. What I did find was there was a catch in the doors for the secondaries that I corrected when I reassembled the carb. I also lightened up the tension on the secondaries a bunch. Also there is a dash pot that...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

I but it was sealed in a plastic bag to avoid those issues. I'm kinda hoping the fuel pump is just weak or there's something in a fuel line somewhere. The thing idles buttery smooth. It'll be something stupid in sure.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Had was the correct tense. The guy who rebuilt it has never let me down until this time. He's been building carbs as long as I've been alive. For some reason though this carb has just been trash. I'll get it figured out. Timing was a issue, I forgot about the base running plug thing for...

Maybe. I had it rebuilt, but nothing about this one has been good.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

I have been waiting for this post for sometime now. I felt a little bit of relief after launching and a bunch after recovering the boat. We are having some issue with the engine I think I have a fuel delivery problem and we did some diagnostic to it on the water but I need a fuel pressure...

Did a little saltwater fishing in SC last week.

Our live well in the little boat is essentially a plastic tote so the corners are rounded the pump system picks up water from the surrounding area. And keeps pretty good aeration. We keep it on the timer thing so we don't run the batteries down unusually fast. But it has to 30 minutes or less...

What is a popping rig? I've heard the term I just haven't had time to research it. I'm a Midwestern guy who likes to visit the saltwater, so I'm still learning. I understand pogies don't live as long if they're caught in a net as they do if you snag them.

Did a little saltwater fishing in SC last week.

Caught some pogies about an hour before we got in that spot. Hooked them right on the dorsal fin. Hook on a steel leader and a 1oz weight about 15 feet down just drifting with the current. The pogies died pretty soon after we caught them like we were out there for about 3 hrs total including...

It was. I've never got to really spend any time in the salt water fishing. It's really a whole different game than what I'm used to. We got to do some crabbing also.

Did a little saltwater fishing in SC last week.

I went for a little vacation down in Edisto Beach SC last week. Took the family down, Dad and I got to fish way more this time since we took the little fishing boat and moored at the marina. We're still running the old Chrysler Bassrunner powered with a 86 Mercury 60hp. I got to land a couple...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

In the final stretches of this job. The change from random construction to finished work is always fun. There's still a bit of work to be done, but I can see the end, rather the splishin and spashin behind the boat.

How to Add a Wax to Poly Resin (Recipe)?

I think I may have not been paying attention with the 904 stuff. I ended up rolling all my work since spraying wasn't a good option. Had I not coated the inside of my spray gun with PVA it would've been a goner.
