Thought This Was Pretty Dang COOL!!!

It would have been nice to see the output voltage with the changing of RPM's. When he first showed the volts it went well beyond (19.40v) the safe 13.8v to 14.2v for most 12v batteries. But cool video!

Problems setting up a Quadrajet on Mercruiser 7.4 Bravo 2

I can only relate to automotive applications as I was an auto tech for 36+ years. Most of my career involved engine rebuilding and tuning. If the 454 cu. in. was rebuilt to factory specs and does not have a racing cam, then... A vacuum reading from a direct intake manifold should be 18-22 Hg...

Adding electric start to a 96 Mariner 30hp

All I can help you with is relating this to a basic starter wiring similar to say automotive. A 2 wire starter switch has a hot (positive +) wire coming into it. Which in your case is the 16GA RED GXL wire coming from the larger solenoid terminal. Once you turn the key or push the button it...

Trailer questions for vintage Glastron Tri-hull

1978 15'-6" Skiflite Max 90HP per hull tag. Yes all original but the seats are in very rough condition. Floor, stringers and transom being redone (very slow project). When all said and done installing new different seats including fishing seats fore and aft. It's going to be this old farts...

    Proper Castle Nut Installation

In the first photo I can see the other spindle hole peeking through the next higher castle nut groove. Verify that everything is seated properly and correct torque is applied to the nut (I've just used feel and rotation for many, many years).

    Trailer bearing broken

Just a few tips and pointers... Clean EVERYTHING real good to remove any metal shavings and/or flakes. You can even use brake clean! Inspect the other bearing for such things as score marks, grooves, burn marks, etc. Do the same for the good bearing race and both spots of the spindle. Be...

Looking for part number to buy a red OMC/Johnson remote tilt/trim switch on throttle handle

I totally understand wanting to replace original parts with original to keep the old girl the way she should be. But I'm also a cheap old fart these days and would really lean towards the $15 part over the $150 at least for a temporary fix.

    Trailer bearing broken

Taking it somewhere to have it repaired might be the best option. The spindle could be damaged so can the race in the hub. It sounds like this kind of repair is new to you and you could end up wasting money on new parts. I totally understand trying to DIY it to save money but if you're not...

    Single axle or dbl

Well I did a quick Google search and found it's dry weight of 1850 lbs. Another quick Google search found the max for a single boat trailer axle is 3,500 lbs. So let's say an outboard weighs around 200lbs. So now your looking at 2,050lbs. That leaves 1,450lbs for gas and gear. Google is your...

    Bunks with plastic on top

Never seen cypress here in New England either. Only options for 2by lumber; Whitewood, Spruce, Douglas Fir (pine family) or Pressure Treated. Even or many lumber mills don't offer anything other than pine really. As a side note: Pressure Treated wood needs to dry out for at least a year before...
