    Random alarm 5.7L carb'd Bravo 2

Is it one of these? 1st pic, starboard. 2nd pic, port side. But I read that unplugging this will cut off the fuel pump. So how would I test it?

    Random alarm 5.7L carb'd Bravo 2

Thank you for the link. I think you're right about the ICM. Unfortunately I can't seem to find anything resembling that pic on my motor. I believe it's a late 1990's model. Here are pics of the Mercathode module, and the 'main harness'. Where would the ICM be, relative to these?

    Random alarm 5.7L carb'd Bravo 2

Are the 3 sensor wires connected together before they go to the alarm? I followed the wires from the lube bottle, which get bundled with the coolant sensor, and then with the Mercathode wires, and then to a bunch of other wires. Can't tell if the wires are spliced, or just taped together. Hope...

    Random alarm 5.7L carb'd Bravo 2

I did this the other day and it was reading 160, if I recall, on the housing that the sensor mounts into. I'll do it again this weekend on the water. What is the 'water crossover'?

    Random alarm 5.7L carb'd Bravo 2

Random alarm - sometimes short chirps, sometimes solid for a few seconds. Only when in gear and at operating temp. The only patterns I noticed are that it often occurs just after I increase throttle. Also seems to occur more around 13-20 kts, and rarely above 23 kts (did not note the RPMs at...

Help with 5.7L front motor mount bracket location.

YES!! I have two of those. I ended up putting both of them on the port side, but I might move one to the other side. Thank you! ...Actually, I recall one of the flywheel housing bolts being longer than the others. I didn't think much of it, but maybe that one was used as a ground.

Help with 5.7L front motor mount bracket location.

Got the engine in yesterday!! Thank you all so much for the help. It whole process was much easier than I thought. I ended up removing the steering rack BEFORE dropping the motor because it gave me a bit more clearance. Now I'm in the process of reconnecting everything, which leads me to...

Help with 5.7L front motor mount bracket location.

Roger that. Another question if y'all don't mind. The new gasket for the raw water inlet fitting (that feeds to to the impeller) has an adhesive side. Does it matter which way the adhesive faces?

Help with 5.7L front motor mount bracket location.

Makes sense, thanks again for everyone's input. I have the installation manual and I'm going through it to visualize the process. It shows the steering rack being installed BEFORE the engine. If I drop the engine first, it seems like I'd have a bit more clearance. Any issues with this? Or is...

Help with 5.7L front motor mount bracket location.

OK, just to be clear, my plan is to bolt the brackets to the motor mounts, and the motor mounts to the motor (adjusted to mid-height). Lower it all down to the rear mounts, raise/lower the front to the correct level. Mark the bracket holes, drill, seal stringer wood, bolt, etc. Is there a better...

Really appreciate all the responses, but I will go with Rick's plan.

Help with 5.7L front motor mount bracket location.

My stern is closer to 16. I got 13 from Rick's post, #3 in this thread. I'm a little confused now with the 2 different answers. Could you elaborate a little more, please?

Help with 5.7L front motor mount bracket location.

Finally had some time to play with this. Made my jig with the transom edge 13 degrees off vertical. Set everything up just as Rick described (I think). If I draw the line for my mounts across the bottom of the jig, it will not be parallel to the hull/stringer. It slopes up going towards the...

Help with 5.7L front motor mount bracket location.

^This is absolute gold, thank you! So the back angled edge of the jig butts up against the transom, and the vertical edge butts up to the BACK of the angle, top horizontal edge against the BOTTOM of the angle? Also, the fiber washers are attached to my transom plate (I'd like to leave them...

Help with 5.7L front motor mount bracket location.

I just finished rebuilding my stringers and transom. Reinstalled my bell housing and inner transom plate. Looking for advice on getting the location for the front mount brackets. They are "L", or angle brackets, if it matters. According to a diagram I found, the distance from rear-to-front...

Thank you!! Not sure what happened to my picture, but it doesn't matter now.

Raw water hose to impeller part#

Think I found it - 28 in the exploded diagram, listed as bulk. Can anyone verify this is correct?

Raw water hose to impeller part#

Mercruiser 5.7L serial# 0M009325 Bravo 2 serial# 0L455278 Is there a part number for the raw water hose that goes from the bell housing to the impeller? I believe it's 1-1/4" ID. Or, can I just use a section of bulk hose? If so, any suggestions?

Painting over new poly laminate - leave tacky or let cure?

Just finished glassing in new stringers, and will probably add an extra layer of 1708 inside the entire bilge. I plan to paint the bilge, probably with Rustoleum enamel. That said, should I leave the last laminate tacky, or should I let it cure? And what type of prep should I do with either...

Electric fuel pump for carb'd 5.7L

I found a private seller with a pump - model # 861155-2. I could not find this model online, but I did see model # 861155A3 and "replacement for 861155A3". It looks like A3 is an updated version. If so, does anybody know what the update is, and if the older versions are okay to use? My serial #...
