15 HP with no power and low rpms

Here is what I did last night. I removed the carb to check out the high speed jet. It was really hard to read but I'm almost certain it said "58 15". My guess is that means it is a 0.058" size jet for a 15 hp? When I tried researching what 15 hp took that size of jet I got a hit for a 2000 model...

    15 Evinrude fuel issue

I think the vent hole is the hole to the left of the low speed needle in the picture below. The carb on the right is a 15hp.

15 HP with no power and low rpms

Thanks guys. I'll look them over once more but I think they are beyond saving by that method. Reason being is the "squishiness" of the resin part of the coils. I'm not sure if I mentioned that part already, but the back of the coils where they are filled with that insulating resin-like material...

15 HP with no power and low rpms

I have a relatively new to me 1982 Evinrude 15HP, model E15RCNC. I bought it based off having good compression and that the seller ran it in a barrel at low speed on top of a good price. Since I have bought it, I have checked the impeller and LU oil and both are in good shape and the motor is...

    9.9HP Seized Driveshaft

The driveshaft on my 1982 9.9 hp Evinrude is sized in the crankshaft splines. I was able to remove the LU by pulling the driveshaft out of it and through the water pump housing. I have it upside down right now soaking with PB Blaster which is all I had on hand. What would the best penetrating...

1982 Evinrude 9.9/15 hp service manual

I'm having trouble finding a a factory service manual specifically for my 1982 9.9 hp and 15 hp Evinrudes. I did find a 1980 Johnson 9.9/15 hp one online though. Any specific reason this service manual will not work for my outboards? I don't know if this one will cover the tuned exahsut or reed...

1982 15 hp Worn Out Upper Shock Mounts

Yeah, I already read a few things on them and looked up the prices...$90 each for the part shown below, and 2 are required. Luckily, I have an identical year 9.9hp that I also purchased which appears to have a solid upper mount, so I can always swap mounts if needed. Also, I've never removed a...

1982 15 hp Worn Out Upper Shock Mounts

I recently bought a 1982 Evinrude 15hp. It runs fairly decent, has 110 psi on both cylinders, and has a solid lower unit, but definitely needs some TLC otherwise. I think it may be getting some water in the cylinders too after running a while... but since I have a backup 9.5 hp, I would like to...

    9.9/15 hp Shaft Conversion

Yesterday I bought a pair of running 1982 Evinrude outboards. One is a 9.9 hp long shaft and the other is a 15 hp short shaft. I'd like to swap parts and reverse the two shaft lengths. I already have a couple small short shaft Evinrudes and am in the process of ordering an Alumacraft 1648 flat...

    Lark II 40HP Identification Help

Can anyone tell me the year range the Evinrude Lark II 40hp's were produced and confirm that the motor in the pictures is actually that model? Also, what would the parts compatibility be between a 1959 35hp Lark? I ask because my dad has a 59 35hp which used to run great, however, it has sat...

New to me 1967 Evinrude 9.5hp Sportwin

I just bought a 1967 Evinrude 9.5 hp Sportwin (model 9722M). The compression was between 65-70 psi on both cylinders using the recoil starter. From everything I have read, that is acceptable and would likely go up if I used a rope on the flywheel and re-tested it...plus maybe more after a...

    1959 35hp Compression Release

I am waiting on a repair manual for this motor to come in before diving into any diagnostics/repairs but wanted to ask something regarding the compression release system. When looking over the powerhead, I noticed the head to have what seemed to be an oily residue on it. This motor is missing...

    New 9.8 Tohatsu Prices Paid?

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to post what they paid for their new 9.8HP Tohatsu? Doesn't have to be a 2015 or 16 model, just one from not too long ago. My local dealer has their new 9.8hp short shafts with electric start listed at I believe $1980 + tax. I still need to confirm the...

Mercury 9.8 hp - What Year Model?

Found a 9.8 hp Mercury for sale locally. Seller is going to get me the serial number but in the meantime I thought I would ask here. Anyone care to chime in on the year or likely year? Here are the pics from ad. The ad says it needs a power pack and pull cord. As pretty much all...

1959 35hp Power at the Prop?

What might the horsepower rating at the prop be for a 1959 35 hp Evinrude? My understanding is that at that time it was rated at the crankshaft. I am asking because I was wondering if modern day boats with say a 25 or 30 hp rating could handle that outboard. I think weight-wise that 35hp (130...

How to extend pickup wire on inductive tach?

A few weeks ago I bought a cheap inductive hour meter/tach off of Amazon. I have been wanting to use it on my freshly rebuilt outboard to both monitor my hours for the break in and use afterwards, however, I have been using it on my mower while I finish up some minor details on my motor work. It...

    Leaking float bowl gasket

Fuel leaks from my float bowl when I tilt my 1994 &0HP Force up. The float and inlet needle seem to be set right as I can pump the primer bulb until lit gets very hard and not force any fuel to leak from around the bowl nor come out of the overflow weep hole. Not a lot appears to be leaking but...

    Fuel line size

Can someone tell me the fuel line size on the line running from the carb bowl to the electronic choke solenoid? Same question for all of those long, small tubes on the fuel recirculation system. My best guess is that the choke lines are 1/8" and the recirculation lines are also 1/8" or 3/32"...

Anyone ordered parts from myoutboarddr .com?

I ordered something from them earlier this week and can't reach them to get a status on my order. The look of the website and their phone site leads me to believe that they are a small business and are just too busy to reply back to me or possibly on vacation or something. Just wondering if...
