    Faria tachometer?

Faria has a limited lifetime warranty on their parts. I'd contact them first. Also, gauges are fairly cheap and sold in sets. Don't worry about the black bezel. If servicing it doesn't work, then simply buy a new set. As a set, all the bezels, cards and fonts match.

Need help IDing my first boat

All of this and battery and gear. The platform will be too unstable on the bow of a boat that narrow. It would be significantly more stable to simply stand on the floor. You're designing features for a much larger boat than this.

"Think we're gonna need a bigger boat"

Most Expresses have a Vberth and a mid-cabin. We had a 28ft Maxum with a huge mid-berth that we used as the master berth. Some 24's have a small, almost single mid-berths. My parents first boat was a Bayliner 24 for a family of four. My wife often says "I have no idea how your mother did...

    Do I survey a 25K boat

Nobody is going to let you drill holes into their boat during a survey. They do make moisture meters, which a surveyor will have, use and know how to read. Unless you are familiar with ABYC standards and understand marine 12vdc 120vac marine plumbing and basic marine construction, I would not...

    Macerator Install

I would disregard this ^^ reply. 1) Yes a Discharge Macerator with 'suck' and discharge the holding tank overboard through the through hull 2) No saltwater won't ruin the discharge pump because it is not pumping water in, it is pumping holding tank contents out. 3) The intake pump for my...

Thinking of buying a Maxum 2400 SCR. Thoughts?

Bayliner is far closer to Searay than any Searay owners will like to admit. Brunswick specifically bought Maxum at a time when Bayliner had a horrible reputation. They needed a product with a more attractive price point than Searay to drive sales to the non-Bayliner alternative. That is where...

    Retrofit an electric head

You can pull it from the battery directly, as long as you fuse the positive lead within a foot of the battery. I like everything behind an isolation switch. I'd run the circuit from the 12v fuse block. That is how everything else from the factory is wired. I wired a power switch for the...

    Any flea’s for sale?

It's a plywood kit boat. Good luck. You'd be better off building one.

Thinking of buying a Maxum 2400 SCR. Thoughts?

I sold a 1999 Maxum 2800 about 5 years ago for a lot less. However, this market is artificially inflated. It's a Brunswick boat. They had three lines for express cruisers (Bayliner, Maxum, and Sea Ray). Kind of the '3 bears' scenario. All have similarly designed hulls, the same or similar...

Radar Dome Install Trophy 2052 Hardtop

I installed on on my radar arch using 1-1/2" washers and ran that thing for 10 years. 23kt cruise speed, 18-20 in 4-6 ft seas. I never had an issue with my radar and 1 foot Edson mount. Your mileage may vary.

Full Bow Railing for a 2007 Larson 274 Cabrio

This will not be an OTS item. Take a single manufacturer like Larson. Now image every single model they make in a given year. Now think about all the models for every year for 15 years. Now think about the warehouse space for just ONE of every different type of rail combination. Now think...

    Fuse Box 1993 280 Carver

I'd expect to find the 120VAC breakers on a panel in the companionway or cabin entrance. More common on those sized boats, the 12VDC system uses fuses in a fuseblock underneath the helm.

Hook up boat engine to permanent magnet generator.

I have a 6 cyclinder Diesel Main engine. I also have a 3 cyclinder 8Kw Generator. Possible and Practical can be, and often are, mutually exclusive. Why would I want to turn a 2-4Kw coil with a 6 cylindar engine, when I can turn an 8Kw with a significantly smaller engine that burns...

    Higgins Help??

When you have a question, submit a post with that question. Just ask it and folks will answer. I'd caution trying to isolate to a single person or boat. Most stuff is going to be generic boat, or wood boat related. You'll find very little being Higgins specific. Don't paint yourself in a...

Air don't freeze... RV antifreeze DOES!

There are two kinds of Marine/RV antifreeze and both are pink. Look closely at the price and the contents. The big box stores often sell both. PRIME GUARD128 fl. oz. Ethyl Alcohol -50°F RV Antifreeze: --> $2.98/gal. PRIME GUARD128 fl. oz. PG Formula and Glycerin Free -50°F RV Antifreeze...

What is the year, make, and model of this boat?!

A HIN has been required to be permanently affixed to boats in the US since November 1, 1972. That boat is definitely newer than late 1972. The HIN should be stamped into the gelcoat on the Starboard side of the Transom. The entire reason so many places title vehicles and vessels is to prove who...

Adding cleats to a floating HPDE dock..

We tie up to one of these at a place that uses it as a dinghy dock. They use the 'Dock Cleat'. (Not the one in the image in the post. 'click' into the link and you'll see the one I'm talking about) https://www.cubedocks.com/cleats-and-tie-downs.html

Inboard Bent Strut And Cant Get Shaft Coupling Off

If the shaft AND the strut are both bent, why do you need to separate the two? Unbolt the shaft from the coupler, unbolt the strut from the hull and remove the entire rig. Replace the strut, shaft and cutlass bearing with new.

FUTURE of TWIN Gas / diesel engines in boat , who can afford fill ups

What are we really talking about here? The difference of a $1.00/gal.? $2/gal.? How much fuel do you burn in a year? Even if you went through 1,000 gallons a summer, you're saying $4,000 is ok, but $5,000 or $6000 is just too much?? If my boating budget can't handle a 1-2K hit, then I can't...

    Universal diessl overheating

The fact that you cleaned the heat exchanger tells me you have a closed cooling system. However everything you did is on the raw water side. 1) Is there antifreeze on the closed cooling side? Over time a heat exchanger will fail if it's lived in saltwater. When it doesn't it develops tiny...
