I am installing a new tilt tube in a evinrude 115. I read how to do this on a few different sites but I would like advice form the experts here. I saw 2 suggestions. one is to take the bracket off and the other is to leave it all togther and slip the new tube in as the old one comes out. Any...
I have been reading several threads about transom savers. I want to get one but the ones I see when I read the directions most of them say you must have power tilt/trim to use it. What if I dont have power tilt/trim...what are my options...can I still use the traditional transom saver mounted...
I am mounting a new motor this weekend. It is a 115 Evinrude outboard. I was wondering if it is wise that while the old motor is off and the transom is bare should I get some marine grade plywood and reinforce the area where the bolts go thru the transom?
One more roller replacement question. I got a really good deal on a set of rollers but I have a concern. The new rollers are for a 7/8 shaft and my trailer's shaft though hard to measure is about 3/4. Is that too much play? Should I try to find some kind of spacer/bushing? I assume I want a...
I just bought all new rollers for my trailer. In the kit are several hog rings...probably a dumb question but what do I do with them..i've never seen or worked with them. Thanks guys.
Im having a problem with sway while towing my camper. I have had it for several years and never had this happen before. Two axle trailer with sway bar. Over the years it would very rarely sway just a bit here and there..nothing scary. Last time I took it out it was swaying like mad trying to...
I need help. I bought a used evinrude 115 (1984). Didint realize at the time but the tilt tube has no threaded end to attach the steering cable to...not sure if someone along the years cut it off or what but now I dont know what to do...can I fabricate something to attach to the splashwell...
I have a 16 foot bowrider with a 115 evinrude/19pitch prop. Thats how the motor came and I havent even run it yet...does that sound about right pitch-wise?
Hi...I need some expert help. I just bought a 1984 Evinrude 115 and I am stumped on one thing. the steering link between the cable and the motor...it looks like the one from my old motor is too short for the new one. Is this part unique to each motor or is there one where you can adjust the...
Can anyone help me with some history? I am looking at a 90 hp Johnson (1983) and the seller says it has a commercial block...what exactly does that mean? Any performance differences?
I am getting a new (used) motor. How do I know if my controls will work for other motors? Is there a way to adapt? I currently have a Force outboard and Im looking at a few Mercurys and Evinrudes.
84 evinrude 115....I am looking at a used motor.....not too familiar..is this a reliable motor...supposed to be a good one? Any suggestions? boat is a 16ft silverline.
:confused:Looking at a used motor...85 115 merc inline 6. Did compression tests and found the following...#1 (top) 74 lb, #2 100lb, 3,4,5,6 112 lb. What could be causing this and is this a really expensive fix? Any help is greatly appreciated.
:DIm going to chec out a new (85) merc 115 and I undertand it is s good idea to check the compression. I have borrowed the gauge to test it but I have a qusestion...do I need to actually start the motor or just turn it over to check compression? I only ask because the motor is not on a stand...
:)I am a novice in this hobby but I need help. I am going this afternoon to look at a used motor. 115 Mercury. Owner says it ran great last season, now it is not on a boat ..on a pallet in his garage. Is the chance worth it for 600 bucks? Comes with controls/cables/control box. The point...
Quick question. I am looking at motors for my boat and I have a 20 inch transom. Is there a way to mount a 25 inch shaft motor on my boat...some kind of plate or something? Might be a dumb question but I may have found a good deal just that its 25 instead of 20.
Maybe a dumb question but...what is the best way to tow a tube? What I mean is the attachment to the boat. I have an outboard motor and was looking at the pylons but I read that they are not for tubes...if not then waht would be good? That sounded good because the rider would be...
I am looking for a larger motor for my boat. I am pretty handy but have never done this type of work. Anything special to know about mounting a motor or taking the old one off?
