It's the same location as the 2 corners that broke off the top. When I drill through the sides of the brace for the aluminum angle it won't matter any more. I'm still thinking on how to do additional bracing. I'll likely put a piece of angle in the splash well area that the motor mounts will...

Page 35 of his thresd. Thanks JB. "So here's the plan, tonight I shot the first coat on the bottom of the Chief below the seam, including the bow and keel plate with some of the industrial/tractor alkyd in aluminum color. 16oz paint, 1 oz catalyst hardener and 2 oz naphtha. It went on like...

I had a plastic drill attachment so I had to try it. I'll use it on the bottom, since I'm gonna leave it unpainted like Rob did on is. I'll be using the same paint scheme, just different colors. It polishes to smooth a surface for the sides that will be a creamy white. This was just a few...

This stripper is working pretty well. I bought the spray can to try it, looks like the 1 gallon brush on is in order. .

Ok, up to 33 so tried a little paint stripper I picked up yesterday. A shot of that and the cheap wire wheel on drill does wonders around rivets.

A friend told me this is a good way to cut the flotation foam. Sure glad to find one at a garage sale.

Only 10 degrees this morning, but going to be mid 40's by mid week so I'm ready. I also picked up some 2" aluminum angle to mount that tank with. Got several warm days in a row, so I'm hoping the gluvit gets here tomorrow and that the clean out and leak test go well. I'll be able to make some...

Well, I have lots of little dents and a couple larger ones. I started practicing on one with a brass hammer and body mans backer. I can no longer see or feel the practice dent. Wohoo I wish I had a before picture. It was about the size of the palm of my hand. I'll post a pic after I go...

Wohoo, now that the hull is swept out I'll have just about 1" clearance between floor and tank. and I can get more by moving the stringers out a little. I had hoped more of the tank would be under the center storage compartment I'm building, but no luck.

Wow, some of those pine cones came over with Columbus. They are so old they have become part of the hull. No bilge plug was needed. Took 20 minutes just to dig with hammer and chisel to get to the hole.

The previous owner drilled 2 holes in the side of the boat to mount the TNT pump. He I was thinking of just putting a round head SS bolt through the holes with a washer on each side and some 5200. Any better suggestions out there? Oh, didn't they do some fine work with the silicone? ha

Well, the fuel tank arrived and so did the cold weather and lots of snow. Bummer. Supposed to be back in 30's late this week. Maybe I can get something done. I did pick up some fast cure 5200 this morning. I'll likely install this like Wattermann did his. There are remnants of fiberglass...

Ok, here's the pic of the knee brace. The top part is broken on both sided. One side is cracked at the bottom. The fix looks simple enough. relatively heavy aluminum angle iron bolted through the knee brace and then drilled through the transom. Sound good?

I found a couple pieces of rolled up paper and was curious. I guess when I unbolted the original pump the original paperwork fell out from behind it. Can't believe it lasted from 1967.
