Missing trim tab, need to know which replacement to order.

I have a 91 boat with a 1990(?) alpha one gen 1 (sn is impossible to read). I started to disassemble the drive for maintenance and I noticed that my trim tab is completely missing! I have no idea how this happened, either it wasn't on there when I got it (bought used earlier this year) or...

Replacing impeller - what else should I replace while I'm at it?

I think I sucked up some sand, and I overheated on my last trip. I also think someone might have fired it up with out muffs for a second. I'm pretty sure my impeller is toast. While I'm digging apart my alpha1, should I be replacing anything other than just the impeller? I see "rebuild' kits...

    Water in cylinders, mercruiser 3.0

Last weekend I was out on the lake and ran across a stupid sand bar hiding in the middle of the lake. I hit some sand, motor bogged a bit, and I killed it and raised the motor. It wouldn't start, and it turned out my brand new starter was cheap and the cone cracked and after further...

Manually turn over a 3.0 - how hard should it be?

How hard should it be to turn over a mercruiser (gm block) 3.0 by hand with the plugs removed, boat out of gear (can freely spin prop)? I can't get a good grip on anything other than the accessory belt / alternator, and it doesn't want to move. I don't see any good place to stick a wrench on...

    Broken (Cracked) Starter! Mercruiser 3.0

I bought a brand new starter, branded WPS World Power Systems, model 2-1760-DR-2. It is supposed to be a delco 260, a drop-in for my 3.0L Mercuiser. It seemed to fit just fine, my old starter did not have any shims so I didn't use any on this one either. The boat started right up a few times...

Use car coil in boat? Mercruiser 3.0

I've got a Mercruiser 3.0, and (per a previous thread) I may be having coil issues. I read somewhere that the GM 3.0 was used in the 1960s Chevy II. I looked up the coil at Auto Zone, Duralast C819, and sure enough it seems to be similar resistance specs and everything to the coil in my boat...

Motor runs then dies, looses spark. Mercruiser 3.0

The boat fires up, and it will idle just fine for anywhere from a few seconds to a minute, then it just dies. I hauled out my trusty timing gun, and clamped it on the wire from the coil to the distributor cap. After a few tries, it started again and I could see the spark with my timing gun...

    No spark - Mercruiser 3.0

My 1991 Mercruiser 3.0 will no start, but cranks over (now that I've replaced the starter :-)). I yanked the first plug and held it against a good ground while cranking the engine and I don't have a spark. My plugs are brand new. The spark plug wires look fine, and electrical connections seem...
