Replace the drive shaft seal or all in MC-1 outdrive?

Took the boat out a few days ago for the first time and it ran great! This morning I noticed my lower unit is leaking oil (milky yellow color) from a small, 1/8-inch hole that I believe usually has water coming from it when I hook up the earmuffs. Did a forum search and discovered the...

Do I need to charge a new marine deep cycle battery?

Did some searching on the forum, but haven't found a clear answer. I have found to let it go and just install it, but also to either "run it down" and then charge it at 2amps or just throw it on 2amps and check with a meter for approximately 12.87 eventually and then stop charging it. Thanks!!

Advice upon installing Perko Dual Battery switch

I read it's a mandatory item to turn off the current to the dual batteries when the boat is not in operation. My questions are 1) Where would be the best place to mount it? 2) Do I keep the engine (ignition, starter, alternator, etc.) on one battery and all accessories (vhf radio, stereo, fish...

Question when replacing an automotive carb with a Marine Holley 650

It was suggested to me that “When you rig your fuel system and carburetor keep your eyes open for the clear vent tube that runs from the fuel pump to the carburetor. It is a tell-tale for you to know if the fuel pump is running on its original diaphragm. If it ever fills with fuel you then need...
