    First tiller motor

Sourcing water pump and fuel pump parts now. But, that tell tale hose is a monster. This is what's supposed to be there.

    First tiller motor

It has some flow. You can see in the pic, the tell tale hose looks larger in diameter than I expected. Can you say if that's original or make shift? Seems like my other outboards had a hose closer to the size of a straw, making the tell tale more of a jet of water than a dribble.

    First tiller motor

Picked up an old V bottom with a Merc on it. Was finally able to get it fired off and running. Looking at ordering a water pump kit, and maybe a fuel pump as well. Can anyone confirm the year and size? Title says '86 / 25hp. Serial tag says A147708 .

Shopping for a trolling motor - suggestions?

Looking to add a trolling motor to our '76 18' SS. Read a lot of poor reports regarding transom mounted units, thus looking for a front mount preferably with a foot control and not a fortune. Are you guys removing your front railing and mounting to the bow? What ft lb and shift length is...

    Water in my gear oil

We have a StarCraft with a '76 Merc 850 Thunderbolt, the SN is 4537364. Just got the boat this year and have had it out 4 or 5 times. We immediately installed a new water pump kit. We are currently draining and refilling the lower unit oil before every trip. The oil comes out an off white color...

    '76 Thunderbolt 850 problems...

Recently picked up a boat with a '76 Merc, the SN is 4537364. Hasn't ran in 2+ years. Put in new fuel and fuel pump, new water pump, and reapaired a bunch of jacked up wiring. It now runs, but it's rough. Probably needs carbs gone through. But the main issue I need help with is when idling I...

    Using UHMW sheets for flooring?

We use UHMW sheets for skid plates on rock crawlers, and I have found some info on here about using it for hull protection. But I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone replacing their plywood flooring with sheets of UHMW. I'm going to have to replace the floor in my StarCraft soon, and this was...

    New Starcraft Owner

Hello, recently got rid of my old '69 Speedliner glass boat and picked up a '77 (or '76) StarCraft 16' Super Sport. Decided on a StarCraft right away as we were wanting an aluminum runabout style boat with an outboard, on a budget. Looked at a few and really liked the open bow and...

    Aluminum Runabout / Bowrider

So, I'm in the market for a new (to me) boat. My old '69 Speedliner needs a transom replacement among other things and I'm ready to move on ... hopefully to much less of a project and more good times. Having been my only boat it has pretty well turned me against wood and I/Os ... and almost...

Help needed with '69 Speedliner shift cable

Hello, I have an old '69 Speedliner with a straight 6. Last trip out was an all day event trying to get it back into the fwd gear and back to the trailer. From what I've read I need to replace the shift cable. I'm looking for some guidance on ordering the correct part. And it looks...
