    Boat is a 1997 Four Winns 258 vista. Has a 7.4L volvo with an sx-m outdrive. My transom was rotted so I'm at the tail end of replacing it and thought, hey let's measure my thickness. I'm just under 2" and still have to put 1708 on the inside of the transom.. am I going to be too thick?? I cannot...

    Haha I laugh when I see the bumper daggers, and their bumpers have just as much build up of algea as the boat does. So let's say I do drill the stringers.. what do I fill the holes with when I'm done??

    Yes it does look pretty nasty, only checks I've done is with an awl.. poking into the transom and around the one stud was soft. I agree I do not want to short cut anything at this point.     Yep.. Had 12v on purple coming out of ignition switch, going to firewall but not coming out of firewall.. Ran a new wire from ignition switch, through firewall to cannon plug and we're back in buiness.

    What is this plug on the back of the engine that has a cover over it.. almost like its on the gimbal housing.. Seems to leave that and go to the ignition module. If I give the solid purple wire 12v on the ignition module it'll stay running until I remove the 12v..

    Cont Ohmd pin 5 to key switches purple wires and they are no good.... Keep one lead on purple wires that go to key switch.. and touch other lead to ground and shows continuity

    Continuity is good on those. Pin 5 female to EXC of alt and too the signal wire (purple) of the starter.

    When you're Saying motor side.. you mean unplugged the cannon plug and check female side thats mounted to riser yes?

    Also.. with cannon plug unplugged and key switch to run i get 0v on all pins of the cannon plug ..

    When I ohm the cannon plug to engine.. one lead on purple at ignition.. I only get continuity on pin 1 and 10

    Kill switch works.. with that undone.. I lose all power to dash and key switch But.. I can keep it running if I hold key switch to crank but the starter obviously stays spinning.

    No power at purple with key on.. have power on orange.

    Yeah that is definitely the module I have but cannot find a diagram for it. Once it stops raining I'll be out there checking it out.
