    It's all relative for fuel mileage. I think the Queen Mary got 16 feet to the gallon. There are a lot of feet between NY and London. Gas gauge was in "tons". The question was we are in port for nn hours. How big a hose to we need to transfer all the required fuel in nn hours?

    The boat is a 27' Chapparal with small cabin. I put Damp Rid buckets in the cabin. I have covered the boat for several years with a blue tarp that was loosely tied mainly so it would not blow off. No issues. Convertible top was not on the boat. Needed a new one and did not get around to it...

    I bought both the seal and bearing. The I could not detect any issues with the bearing so I only replaced the seal. Replacing the bearing is a lot more work as it's pressed in.

    Crack on drive unit - how concerned should I be?

    It might be able to be welded. The guys that repair the skegs should be able to weld it. Obviously drive needs to come off. Doubtful if this was due to the drive hitting a rock or log but when you drain the gear oil check it carefully for metal.

    There is not a lot of wear that happens in a PS system. While a change of PS fluid can never hurt, in this case I doubt it's your problem. The PS pulley is on tight?

    The PS pulley is cheap about $28. The main flywheel pulley is around $250. I half wonder if the raw water pump seal was leaking longer than I first thought and it sprayed water all over the flywheel and PS pulleys and caused them to rust a little. I only noticed the leak from the raw water...

    The impeller should be pre-lubricated with a glycerin get for the absolute best results. I am guessing most people don't actually wear out the raw water impeller with normal use. If it's damaged it's a lack of water. While your around that area of the engine look for rusty pulleys...

    A self etching primer may well etch the aluminum but whatever is removed from the aluminum will dry as part of the primer. Do you really want that?
