    Correct, im guilty of messing with it before someone let me know that its not the right one and all i was doing was desyncing the throttle.

    Its a '78. And i dont know what im looking at man, thats why im asking. In the context of the video, its the thing the camera is pointed at, hard to miss. Ive sorted the throttle range now but still want to know what this is or does.

    Having a little trouble getting the full range out of the control box and engine with the new cable. It was tuned for the broken one, but namely I want to know exactly what this part of the engine is/does and what the switch that it touches, for now. I dont believe this was "activating" before...

    My throttle cable is FUBAR. Its for a 1978 Johnson 35hp. I know its a 400 type control cable but its hard to find a used one with all the hardware on it. Ive found a few possible sale posts but none of the sellers know what they have or will even respond. Im not looking for a new one as none...

    That could be one of the issues on this motor. Ill have to take a look and see if the butterflies line up on full throttle. First ill have to get a new throttle cable though. Just recently the sleeve popped out of the crimp and the crimp is cracked.

    Yeah the "dinking around" part as you kindly put it was because we were aware of some play between the throttle and choke and thought it might be because of that but didn't actually rev it as you said earlier. the thing you saw move was the choke which contributed to the rpm spike not, nevving...

    Thats sounds like it makes sense, do you know where/ might be the idle plate? Or what it looks like?

    I had it running before, but the idle was miserable and wouldn't hold. Wfter replacing the plugs, the coils and wires, and checking the carb... It idles great, but runs like hot dung. Heres a video Anybody knowledgeable of these engines? I sure am not. My knowledge of engines drops at the 90s...

    Boat running decently fast now. Carb is still gonked and its a little cold blooded but Boat goes good.

    I l fixed it today. The spark wires are old and were jumping ground. All thats left is a somewhat shoddy carb. Prop is original and undamaged. A bit cold blooded and doesn't like to idle without a little throttle. But a ton better and more reliable than the first launch. As far as a tach goes...

    Likely a spark issue. Compression was 135 and 145 psi. Getting spark on cyl 1 but coil wire 2 is jumping to my hand before the plug. Did that just now

    Mate, he called me an idiot and told me to sabotage my family's cars with the old fuel. What about that should i just let slide? Im going to assume the boat launches on your planet look a bit different than ours. I also think you may have watched too many cartoons if you think it just flies off...
