    1986 70 HP Mercury Outboard

I was wondering if someone could help me please! I have an older 70HP Mercury outboard serial number OA743766, I purchased this without the block, disassembled but has all parts. I have found a 75hp block and wondering if I can use it in place of the original 70 hp block. Thanks!

    80 HP Mercury trim

My bad! I went and put a 30 Amp fuse on my power wire when I upgraded my wiring, these pumps have a built in fuse so now I assume I don't need one on that line? Changed the blown fuse and now it goes up and down properly. My question now is, how do I set the limit switch as I disconnected it...

    80 HP Mercury trim

I believe it’s a 1979 80 HP Mercury 4832469 and the pump is inside boat. It was working on the lake but then stopped, had to lift from inside.. what a pain in the back lol. Think I have two solenoids and I control from the throttle up front. I hear a click for up and it goes down ok.

    80 HP Mercury trim

I was wondering where I can get the hydraulic parts for my trim motor. Was on the lake today and motor stayed down and would not trim up. I hear a click and that’s all but trims down fine. Any information would be appreciated thanks

    1980 110(9.8) hp Mercury outboard

No the one beside that one behind. I turn it in and the idle goes up and back it out for idle to go down. I don't have a manual for this motor but think I have it figured out now, other then idle in gear might need adjusting.

    1980 110(9.8) hp Mercury outboard

After I got it up and running I adjusted the low speed mixture and throttle stop screw, in for more idle and out for less. Think I was able to get it correct cause now it will start on second pull (first being choke closed) and it pulls gas in.

I pull the choke, start it and it runs good. I adjusted the idle speed a bit and seems to run good.

great news!! I got this motor running but now it only starts with the throttle wide open. Could you please tell me how to set the fast idle as I still don't have a manual for this motor. Thanks!

    1980 110(9.8) hp Mercury outboard

I was thinking after looking at everything it must be the crank seals as to why it won't fire with premix into carb.

    1980 110(9.8) hp Mercury outboard

Was just wondering, would bad oil seals be why my compression is just under 100 psi?

    1980 Mercury 9.8 110 HP outboard

I am going to try holding hand over carb while it's being pulled and check for suction, that's a hard challenge alone but.. maybe the oils seals are bad.

    1980 Mercury 9.8 110 HP outboard

So, after tearing this motor down and finding stuck piston rings I have cleaned it all up and reassembled it. I am at the point now of getting her to pop with fuel into the plug holes but not with premix sprayed into the carb, the tiller handle is still loose and I don't have a manual to set it...

    1986 Mercury 9.8 110 outboard

I know this is a simple motor but having some trouble getting her to start. I’ve set the idle mixing screw( seated and then back out 1.5 turns) but the markings on twist grip are worn off so I’m not sure where it has to be to start.
