    1993 Johnson, 200 hp help!

Thanks for the help all. I bought a similar Johnson Ocean Runner 200 HP model and swapped parts. Up and running BUT, now trying to trace high speed vacuum leak or cracked fuel pickup in '78 Mako 23.

    1993 Johnson, 200 hp help!

I am still baffled by no spark at all - flywheel magnets re glued in with only a small chip in one. I really need somewhere to go from here. Sounds like flywheel replacement, but wouldn't it create a weak spark even right now? I truly believe this is a kill switch / interrupter issue. The boat...

    1993 Johnson, 200 hp help!

Excellent! This is good intel and the last part of the electrical spark generation system that hasn't been replaced. Multimeter is not showing 120V DC (more like 90-110V DC). Any recommendations on where to get a remanufactured flywheel?

    1993 Johnson, 200 hp help!

I didnt replace the starter - I replaced the STATOR and Timer base (both under the flywheel, because I saw melted goop from a 30 year old stator. I was trying to restore a spark and the CDI tests showed it failed miserably re OHMS.

    1993 Johnson, 200 hp help!

I’ve worked on this motor before, I have a similar 1993 ocean runner 150 hp and have no problem with the electrical system as it uses OIS. This is when it stopped working. I had to change the water pump as the boat has been sitting for years. The boat ran great with the new water pump. I only...

    1993 Johnson 150 V6 overheating

Looking for any helpful guidance. 1993 Johnson V6 150 – replaced water pump and impeller. Found a lot of salt deposits in and around the water housing manifold. Don’t know how to remove the intake screens to check if there’s anything collected up in there. Since the engine overheated is no...

1993 Johnson 150 Ocean Runner broken steering arm

Haha, I hear you. It still turns but I think its only rust holding it together. I hate this damn engine. Concerns noted and will have to replace (which would likely break more rusted bolts...) or come up with some sort of rig/winch/strap to secure to the arm. Either way, not good.

I'm not qualified for that level of repair - I will have to poke around on how its still connected at this point.

    Johnson 150 v6 carbs

Yes it is a looper - used automotive gasket maker (fuel resistant) for now until I can get a newer engine. This one is starting to alarm after 4k RPMs now. Still determining if gas restriction or overheat. It does allow me to turn it off and right back on without alarm at 4k RPM. Starts as...

1993 Johnson 150 Ocean Runner broken steering arm

Bought the boat this spring and noticed steering arm broke recently (completely rusted). Question is, without tearing the whole engine down, am I safe to use it with the broken steering bracket (underneath power head)? What could happen if run as is? The engine is old and always something, so...

    Johnson 150 v6 carbs

I used sierra carburetor rebuild kits for all six carbs. One of them is still leaking out of the bowl gasket, and where the carb mounts to the back plate (another gasket). Can I use gasket maker on the outside of the cab where it seems to be taking air in and leaking some gas?

Johnson 150 V6 Ocean Runner - not starting

To help others this did the trick to get the engine to fire NO FIRE AT ALL: 1. Check the kill lanyard and key-switch position. 2. Verify the engine rotation (The engine needs to be turning in a clockwise direction). 3. Check the power pack and ignition coil ground wires for corrosion and...
