My 200 has a miss at idle in neutral and in forward, in rorward the idle jumps up causing the boat to surge. I've replaced the plugs and ran a full tank thru it and pulled them again and noticed that #2 cyls plug is black half the way around the porceline and the other half is white/light tan. And the other plugs (1,3,4,5and6)are white/tan all the way around the porceline. I've checked the fuel/air pressure-ok,compression-ok,put a new plug in, swapped direct injector and put new fuel injector in replaced tracker diaphram, new coil, swapped coildriver and still have a problem. Along with the plug being black I can pull the plug on #2 coil and the motor smothens out and when I pull the plugs on the other coils (1,3,4,5,and6) the motor gets rougher. ANY IDEAS OR HELP? Thanks

No2 should not get any smoother! It should just stay the same,if it is dead. Are you sure you dont have the wires crossed?Maybe the injecters are switched?

Re: 05 200 opti-max miss

The wires are not crossed and the wires to the injector is right. I de-carbonized the engine with sea-foam and got ALOT of carbon out of the exaust! I've heard the term of coaking in opti-max's but the motor only has 86 hrs on it. I'm going to go fishing in a tourn. and if it still does it it's going back to shop. Will coaking cause this problem or has anyone had this problem?

Check the spark at idle... I like to use a spark gap tester but a timing light will work also...

Compare it to the other cylinders...

Well the shop found the problem! The cylinder sleeve spun in the block about 15 degrees blocking off half of the exhaust port!If any one has this problem or want to see pixs just e-mail me @ crappieslab@aol.com. Mercury is going to replace the powerhead with a brand new one.
