10 amp fuse on Volvo Penta powertrim motor

A couple of weeks ago I lost a blade on my duo prop due to severe aluminum pitting near the base of the blade. We made it back to the marina at slow speed but when we got back the trim wouldn't work due to a blown 10 amp fuse on the trim motor. I replaced it and it worked for an hour. Now the fuse continues to blow as soon as I insert it in the socket. I jumped the trim motor directly to the battery to see if it would work and it works fine.
I looked at all the wires in the engine compartment and they are fine. I need some help with other possible short locations that would be causing this situation. I was wondering if the actual finger trigger switch on the controls would cause this. The engine is a 5.7l gsi

If you have a trim button in the throttle/shift control handle, the wires may be shorted where they wrap around the lever.

What is the full model of this 5.7gsi not just year???
The trim systems changed year to year.

I will get this to you this afternoon I left all the engine numbers etc on the boat yesterday. Yes I do have a trim switch on the controls. I accessed the wires to the controls by removing the ceiling panel in the head and reaching in with my hand back to the controls then tracing the wires back to the panel. I may have pulled something by the controls. The 10 amp socket is hot all the time as soon as i put a fuse in it it blows.

A picture of the control would be a great help. Since I suspect that is where the problem is.

Not sure where you found the COKE 1101 93 492 number, but that is not Volvo.
The model number 5.7gsi PWTR indicates a 1999 model year for Volvo, so I would assume you have a repowered boat, or actually a 98 instead of 89 boat and you miss typed it.

That control looks a lot like a Teleflex in the link below, just with a different cover on it.

You need to remove the handle, and look a the wiring. bet there are bare wires where it rubs on the housing.

Don,

Thanks for the info on the trim unit switch. Once i took the handle apart I was able to find the red wire broke over the circular metal frame that the wire wraps around. I repaired the small tear in the wire and that was all I had to do.
If you were a gal I would kiss you! Since your not a big thank you for your help!
