115 Evinrude flywheel will not rotate

My 115 Evinrude (year approx 1983) will not turn now. I say now because it was turning just fine when i bought is about 3 weeks ago. I recently took my boat out for a test run to see how things were running. I started off slowly and noticed that the engine has little bit of a sputer in it. i took the rpms up some then it ran fine. i then took it back down and notice it doing better i then took it into about 4 1/2 feet of water and the engine staled out i started it back up again thinking it may be two shallow for the engine it then stalled out again and i had to get a tow back in becasue it would not turn over. I found a small gas leak in the line leaving the fuel pump. and fixed it. i then started it up bye having my wife start the engine and myself pulling it by rope. the boat started right up and i turned it off the next day i did the same thing and it would not start, and the fly wheel would not even turn. i am wondering if i am going to half to get a pully an take the fly wheel off or if there if i flooded the engine and need to take the spark plugs off and try and turn it. any help will work <br />thanks

Are you premixing or using the VRO?<br /><br />Pull all the plugs and see if it will turn over.

LubeDude, not sure what VRO is how ever i believe you are talking about gas and 2 cycle oil so if that is correct yes i am 50:1 and i will try and pull the plugs. thanks for the imput.

Do you mean the motor is locked up or that the starter doesn't turn it. Can you turn the flywheel by hand?

Walker, I dont believe the moter is locked up because i ran it a week ago. the starter cannot turn it by its own power. I was able to turn the fly wheel by hand for a while and the last time i tried to start it up i could not even turn it by hand and its in neutral.

Hi A19.6,<br /> If you cannot turn the motor by hand, then something is very amiss.<br /> Best case scenario - you've got a flooded motor and one of the cylinders is full of liquid fuel. This can be caused by leaky floats in the carburetors. <br /> Second best scenario - the lower unit has gone bad and the motor is otherwise fine.<br /> Worst case scenario - the motor itself has locked up due to any number of reasons - overheating, bad gas, neglect, etc.<br /><br />- Scott

Also : you might have a blown head gasket and beginning rust in a cylinder locked it up. Try to remove plugs, squirt oil in cylinders and twist flywheel with a wrench. Dont use awfull lot of force.
