Humm, Where to start? Well I bought a '89 Bayliner Capri for $200.00. The owner thought it had a lock up motor. Ok. Well after inspecting it I found a locked up bearing in the lower foot. I took it apart replaced the brearing. Which was $27.30 and $15.00 for the Drive Shaft shop it press it off and on the shaft. Put a New water pump kit W/housing on it. Then I took out and Man this thing runs great. Stayed out for 3hrs playing around. <br /> Now, Here is where it gets ugly. The boat came with a set of MUFFS to rise the motor out with. SO I used them ( before I read this board ) Burnt the water pump up. I did'nt know this until I went out today with my Wife. We left the dock and off we went. It ran great for about 5 mins. I felt a shutter and I back out of it then the over temp buzzer when off. I turn it around and headed back. I was running at 4500 rpm when it came on and I pulled back to 1500 rpms. It took awhile for the buzzer to go off.( 5 mins ) When we got back I turn switch off it kept running faster. I pulled kill switch nothing, OH ****. IT's GETTING FASTER. so I choke it out by pushing the key in and closing the choke butterflys. WOW that was wierd. This thing was HOT! The buzzer went off I thought it was cooling. NOT! I got it home and pull the lower foot. Water pump was trashed. Hooked the hose up to inlet fitting on bottom of boat. Turn the water on low. when to start it and it lock up. What the hey! Pulled the plugs and water started running out of the lower cylinder, damm it. Oh yea, I also pull the hose off at the spacer plate so I could make sure the water was running. With all this happening what do I do now. Is the block cracked? The head? What should I do now? Where is the water coming from? Any help would be greatfull. Thanks Michael.
