140 Mercruiser won't turn over????

Hi, I'm new to all this so please bear with me. I just purchased a 1979 Viking Deckboat with a 140 Mercruiser from a friend. The motor was running fine when he took it out of the water 3 years ago, but it was stored uncovered outdoors ( in Indiana ) for the last 2 years. It appears to me that water must have entered the engine through the carb. There was water in the oil pan but the oil in the filter contained clean oil. The motor will not spin. I sprayed WD-40 and Blaster into the cylinders and re-filled the crank with diesel fuel for a soaking. After a week, still can't get her to move. Should I be looking for a replacement engine or have this one removed and disassembled?
Any cheap tricks to try first?

Regards,

Ramblerfan

It was drained, but not what even a novice like me would call "winterized". Best course of action?
Tear it apart and assess the damage? Seems frozen hard. Still won't turn even after a week of soaking.
I don't want to pour a fortune into it. I can go buy a boat that runs for less than $2000.... Sugestions?

Thanks ahead of time!!!!

IF your "friend" didnt stick you too hard, then I would sell that heap for salvage and buy you something that you could be on the water by the weekend.
You are entering an expensive repair or doing it your self, expect to spend many hours.
What shape is the rest of the boat?
Some time it just pays to cut your losses and move on.

Thanks for all the advice. No, I didn't get "stuck too hard at all. I could still put several $$$ into it and still not have much in it. The Gator trailer is worth more than I paid for the whole outfit. I do like the idea of buying something that is ready for the water. I'm leaning toward selling and saving my $$$ till later this fall for a better deal.

Thanks Again Gentlemen!!!

You ae asking for something that will never get answered. There is no good answer but to get what suits the type of boating you like. Also, you wont get a fair answer since you posted on an onboard-I/O forum. No (or just a few like me who have more than one boat) outboarders here. Mostly the I/O type of guys!!!
