Year? Any other #s Profile.The #s I can't find a cross.J
You need to remove the flywheel and clean the points.Make sure they are making good contact.
YOu might need to replace them. The parts are easy to find and replace.
Get yourself a FACTORY manual. They sell manuals here and can find stuff at the library.J
So, you are not getting any spark from either spark plug wire?
Your Gamefisher/Force has "BIM" coils so points are not used. BIM coils are known to go bad, so you could have both of them bad, if no spark from both plug wires. BIM coils are NLA so you will have to do a $150-200 CDI ignition upgrade or try to source replacements from Standard Magneto.
I went through this on my 7.5 HP Gamefisher/Force. I only had 1 bad coil and the outboard would run, though it was a dog. I did the CDI ignition upgrade, the company is called CDI.
you don't happen to know a parts distributor that might have these still available either new or used do you?
Those coils apparently go bad just from age. I have a 15hp 1989 Gamefisher here that was used a handful of times back in 1989 and then packed away in the garage. I dug it back out 22 years later and it has no spark. Both coils are dead. I'm not sure if its worth fixing or not for the $160 or so it'll cost.
The CDI kit didn't solve the spark problem? It should have as it's a complete ignition system, well besides the the magnets in the flywheel. I'd check the installation again and/or call CDI and ask them. Maybe you got a bad part from CDI?
Your situation is a bit different than mine as I had a running outboard and 1 of the coils went dead, so I just installed the CDI ignition and it fired right up.
(geeze I hope this isn't it) it your dead-mans lanyard hooked up?
We by-passed both the kill button and the lanyard hook-up switch and still no spark. I contacted CDI and they are sending us a new CDI kit. We hooked it up just as the directions stated. I hope this solves our problem. I never had one like this before. Now we wait for the new unit.
Any other ideas?????
Thanks, Ed
