Re: 15' Sport-Craft Sprint project

I had the same thing happen on the boat that I am redoing, it came with a 85hp rude. I was able to get it started but it was used alot in salt water and i was going to rebuild it. almost every bolt that I tried to get loose broke off on me. I was lucky enough to find another boat with a good 115hp for only 250. I salvaged all of the good pieces before scrapping the boat.

Well I did get all the bolts removed. Most of the threads were fine, It was the smooth shafts of the bolts that were stuck. I will be cleaning everything up this week and trying to get some parts painted.
I would love to have the engine finished in two weeks but I'm always a little optimistic with deadlines.

Started doing some cleaning today. At least we know the tilt/trim unit was well greased. My finger is covered an there is a lot left. I will also need new brushes for the tilt/trim motor.

Well, I decided to just take all the parts and get them hot tanked. The pressure washer was even having trouble getting through all this oil and grease.

Quick Update:

I finished the floor and only need to paint it. I don't have many pics but I'll get some more next weekend. Here is a picture of the transom fiberglassed in and another of the engine parts being sandblasted.

A few more pics. I primed the floor today and will be putting a non-slip coating on it tomorrow. The paint I'm using is made for stairs, pool decks, tennis courts, exc so I think it should hold up fine.

Looking good. It's nice to finish a section of a big project isn't it. I like the boat and that's a good looking trailer too. I would love to have a workspace like that. I would work in there year round. Keep up the good work.:)

Thanks. The workspace is great. It's my dad's place but he lets me use it whenever I want. My shop is full of other projects and its not near as nice as this one.

Thanks. I diddn't paint the locker because I couldn't reach it from outside the boat. I painted everything standind on the ground and just reaching inside. It will be painted as soon as everything dries and I get a chance to finish the door, exc.

The garage door is unique. We order it from http://www.hydroswing.com The cost was less than a roll up door would have been and we could put siding and windows in it as if were a wall.

Part one.

I love poking around in peoples garages, and yours is great! Old timers, Chevy flatbed, Firebird, VW Dune Buggy, Businessman's Coupe ???, Cadillac ???. All kinds of little airplane stuff. Big screen TV, with football! Cool old enamel signs. Just a great looking, functional Garage all in all.

Out side we got an old tractor, got to love them. Beautiful piece of property and direct access to WATER! Man oh man. Did I sound a little jealous? Good!

Part two.

You are doing a really nice job on the boat. If it looks half as good on the outside when you are finished, as the inside does now, it is going to be great boat. :)

Re: 15' Sport-Craft Sprint project

Thanks for the kind words. The whole project is going a little slower than I expected but I know it will be worth it in the end. I probably could have bought a boat in decient condition for a little more $ but I hope to have this one in like new condition. I also seem to enjoy working on things as much if not more than using them.

Good eye SnappingTurtle. We seem to be collectors of everything. Most all of these antique cars have always been in the family and fortunatly we have kept them. Non of them are in prestine condition but they do all run. Minus the VW, I bought it about 5 years ago to fix up and it still sits untouched.

The chevy flatbed was used by my grandfather to haul supplies for his general store, the Firebird wad my dads first car, the 1936 Chevy Master Coupe was my great uncles and the Cadillac was rebuilt from the ground up by another uncle.

I did a little cleaning on the top as well. I hope to have it on thursday or friday.

jcsercsa is right on the money take your time and do it right even if it seems like a pain it is always the shortcut that are taken that we regret later.
