Need some help guys.Duplicate problem that I had repaired last year.Tech that fixed it said it was a bad ignition switch________. I should have listened better at the time.Same sequence of events.1995 150 Ocean pro.Running great all spring.Idling up canal, turned ignition off to hear some music we were passing.Went to turn ignition switch back on and NOTHING.Heard a slight selenoid click when turning key.Heard a very dull buzz coming from the tilt selenoids when I tried to tilt.Nothing. I checked all connections, batteries, starter, etc, battery switch. The battery switch was last and everything worked after checking those connections.Started right up but the sound was obvious to me that it was only running on 3 cyls.Just like last year.Anyone know the right name of the part that I need???I am anticipating having a hard time getting a hold of the same tech.Maybe some help with a diagram so I know where to look.Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks Charlie

Thanks anyway,I figured it out.I case anyone has the same or similar problem I will tell you what I found, especially since there was no help for me on this. There is a shift interrupt switch very similar to that on an i/o engine. It is low on the stbd side of the motor just above the cowl.2 wires come from it a black and yellow.Just pull it out of the retaining clip and test the interrupt button which faces down.Mine was stuck in the in position. With the motor running press the button and 1/2 the engine banks shut down and when you let it go the go back on.It is very obvious when you do it.Hope this helps.Charlie

Charlie you do realize your original post was very difficult to follow and was only posted this AM. You might give us a clear description of your issue, and a longer time to decipher your post, before admonishing us. You cited trouble with the starter circuit, trouble with the trim circuit etc., and hinted that the ign switch was bad.

For us that dont have motors that new what is it for i see what your description of it does, but why have a button to cut out half the cyls? If i know maybe i can help someone in the future and will store it away.

tHE PURPOSE OF AN INTERRUPT SWITCH IS TO MOMENTARILY STALL THE MOTOR WHILE SHIFTING SO YOU CAN NEVER GO FROM FORWARD DIRECTLY INTO REVERSE OR VISA VERSA AND DAMAGE THE GEARS.SORRY FOR THE CAPS,I AM TOO LAZY TO GO BACK AND RETYPE IT.CHARLIE

Re: 150 Ocean pro running on 3 cylinders.........FIXED........

Charlie, Your description of the function of the shift cut out switch is only half correct. It does kill 1/2 the cylinders to make shifting out of a gear into neutral, easier. The way the gears are cut, engine power loading on them makes it difficult to unengage the shift dog. The cut-out switch does not protect from shifting from forward directly to reverse.

It is doubtful that I was the only person put-off by your tone.....

This makes more sense. I was wondering how cutting half the cyls keeps you from going from fwd to reverse?
