A couple days ago I took the distributor cap off my '74 1500, and the carbon electrode that goes from the center of the cap to the rotor broke off. I have a new electrode, how do I get the old one out?

I take it that part of the old one is still in there, right?

It's probably gunked in place. You could spray some carb cleaner on it and that might help loosen it up. You could also, carefully, drill a small hole in it so you could run a screw down enough to catch it and pull it out.

There's a spring behind it, try not to damage it, or drill too far in and damage the cap.

HTH.........ed

Yeah, it's broken off even with the hole that it's in. I'll try putting a screw into it...

Alright, got it out with a screw. :) Do I need to do anything more than just push the new one into the hole?

Thanks!

ZmOz, They just push in and ride on the spring. It seems strange that your's got gunked up. I would clean out the hole so the new one doesn't stick!
