Basically, does it have a t-stat?I replaced water pump impellor, now motor dosent seem to build any heat. should the pee stream ever warm up?or is it normal for stream to always be cold?

Re: 1500 thermostat question?

Inline 6 or V6? Inline 6s don't have T-stats, V6s have t-stat and pressure valves. Basicly the t-stats are operational at low speeds to improve idling and low speeds. As engine rpms rise water flow and water pressure increase causing the pressure relief to open and increase flow for better cooling at high rpm. The pee stream on my inline 115 would get lukewarm to warm. Lake temp was a factor too

way, Those motors do not have thermostats. The telltale will never get anymore than lukewarm at idle, especially on the hose. After a hard run the telltale will be warm to the touch.

Usually folks put water pressure gauges on 'em to monitor the performance of the waterpump.

Re: 1500 thermostat question?

Anthony, The teletale is a stream that exits out the back right bottom of the lower cowling of the motor. Right above where it says "1150". If you take off the wrap cowling, you should see a hose that runs from in between spark plug no. 1 and 2, down to the bottom of the cowling. Water will also come out the gratings just above the prop and antiventilation plate, as well as out the square holes in the back of the motor, just below where it says 1150.
