so I have a 15hp gamefisher. IIRC its a 1995 model. it had been in storage since basically new with 30hrs on it that were documented. I bought 5 years ago from an estate sale along with two other similar models. I mounted it, gave it fuel...it cranked up on 1st pull. so then I put it on a post between trees along with the other motors and an old 76 evinrude that needed LOTS of love from my grandpa's old 76 scout runabout.

had intentions to immediately restore the boat and use the gamefisher while fixing the evinrude.

but then life got in the way. finally got to the point where I'm having a professional restore the boat itself. I went to show him the motors and they were all full of carpenter ants....not actual nests...just ants running around inside the cowling...and some cockroaches. like seriously?

so I grabbed the 95 and tossed it on a post and vacuumed out the bugs and hooked it up but I cant get the primer bulb to get solid (I think it was deteriorating) and regardless of that...I couldnt get spark. I used two different inline plug testers and no spark. could bug crap have gotten up under the flywheel and just done weird things? its not points/coil. it is cdi as far as I know. at the same time. I dont want to tear the engine down without an actual diagram so I can chase thing issue properly vs just tearing apart an engine that should be good.

and yes...it still has excellent compression to the point I want to use a drill to turn the crank nut for testing purposes vs trying to yank on the pull cord.

I found the owners manual but that doesnt really help...https://www.scribd.com/document/703617318/gamefisher-225581508-owners-manual

for the kill switch. is it active if connected or does it ground the magneto if one of the wires is disconnected? basically for testing purposes if I pop the two wires going to the kill switch....will that give me spark...or if I effectively bypass the kill switch by unhooking it and hooking the two wires...would THAT give me spark? I'm just trying to eliminate variables as I troubleshoot this.

thoughts?

The killswitch grounds out the CDI box.
Disconnect the wire from the CDI and should have spark if there is no another issue.
