What I need welded/repaired. Rub mark from the engine being under trimmed. Holes from the pop rivets p/o sealed it with. Other side cannot be accessed without removing the knee brace. Idea's?

What're you going to do with the BONDO polyester fiberglass resin?

Decided to take out all the old flotation.. it was stinky with fuel/oil, and moldy.. cleaned the boat of oil and grease..

... only if you're going to use fiberglass cloth or mat with it, it's pretty much worthless by itself.

Yep, I have lots here. Not 100% sure I will go through with it though. I will be making some speaker enclosures though..

Trying out the rivet tool. Using three pieces of alum to get the right thickness. Bottom rivet seems a little short. Top looks alot better.

Re: 16' Blue Fin project

Have come quite a ways. Monday had the transom laminating. Did sanding and scraping on hull and plywood. Put first coats of spar varnish on the floor plywood. Figured out how I wanted to lay the flotation.

Yesterday I dropped the boat at the repair shop for the welding of the knee brace. Decided to patch the other holes with jb weld. I re-coated floor with spar varnish. UN-clamped the laminated transom plywood, and cut it out. Epoxy sealed the edges, the rest I spar varnished. Picked up the hull in the afternoon. Weld job looks more than adequate.

This morning more varnishing, and then laying out and cutting the Styrofoam flotation to go under the floor. Apply Jb to the problem spots on the transom, and allow to set up for six hours. Clamp and drill for patch piece to protect problem spot. Will apply second coat jb tomorrow. Pics to come.
