As far as your deck goes, it's easy in a tinny, coat it good with polyester resin and a layer of CSM for the underside and two layers on the top, finished off with a 6 ounce veil cloth (I just learned the cloth layer) Will make a nice finish to paint, gelcoat, vinyl over or whatever you decide to finish off the deck with...

What is BTI?

Good luck with her.

evan,
Glad you started your own thread. You will get a lot more focused help that way. The folks here are great. The fact that it is s tinny will make it easier and more cost effective to restore... Take your time and do it right as time/cash allow.

You mentioned that the trailer might have some issues... I'm not sure if you can move that (bent) axle back, but it appears that may need a longer trailer for that rig.... You may want to just sell this trailer and find another one.... The axle should be a little more aft of the midship, and the bunks don't look like they make all the way aft. Just a thought....

Starting digging and remember the old saying: "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. :)"

P.S. Cool looking boat... There are a couple of solid MFG restores going on the site right now, and I have really grown to like the lines of those boats. Should be a beauty in the end.

Well alright Evan glad to see you got your thread started! First off I must commend you for wanting to get this old gal back in shape. Most guy's your age are to busy playing video games and such. Make sure you listen to all the guy's here . They will definitely keep you heading in the right direction . Get a free photobucket account for your pics that way we can all follow what it is your working on without having to go back and click on an img. It makes it way easier to follow..
Your hull is fiberglass not metal right? Kinda get you a plan on what you want to do . If it were me I would get the transom in shape first. Then work on the other stuff.
Good luck ! S.P.

Hi Evan ..... you don't want to take the glass off of the back of the transom. If your intention is to cut out the old transom you would be better off to cut from the inside of the boat. I am not an expert and I am sure they will be along soon and you might want to wait for their suggestions. Just my 2 cents .... good luck.

Are you sure that the transom is bad? Take a drill bit maybe 3/16 and wrap a piece of tape up about an inch from the tip use the tape as a guide so you don't drill all the way thru the transom. Drill some holes about an inch or so up from the boat bottom on the inside under the splash well around the drain hole and anyplace the looks suspicious of rot. If the wood shavings are clean and dry it may be ok if they are dark wet and mushy then it's bad. It looks like someone has built a new splashwell at some point so they may have already replaced the transom. If it is bad then you can decide the best way to tackle the problem.

Ditto what Jon said ^^^^
