Re: 18' Starcraft SS Restoration

Forgot to mention that I had used 3/16" thick lexan for the windshield. It was $52.00 for what I needed but I still want to install some on the sides.

Great Job Fsh, the dash looks awsome. That's a cool name for the boat.

Nice work Dale, glad to see ya get caught up on photos:)

That is some nice fabrication you did on the dash, I thought you might be using tinted glass in the windshield.:D

Good luck with the splash, I'm sure this boat will catch many fish for years to come:)

I'm pretty sure you mean teak wood on the dash. If so, be sure to oil it. Given the location, somewhat protected from sun and rain, it should stay looking great for a very long time. Nice!

Re: 18' Starcraft SS Restoration

Thanks guys. Mike I was going to go tinted but I figured at night it may not be a good idea, though it would look good.;) DJ, the carpet came from Lowes. It's a deck/marine grade and I think it was $5.00 lineal foot ( by 6 ft). Pmillar, yeah its teak. I still need to oil and finsh the dashes, and the step pads, rod lock, etc.
I installed the jack plate this weekend, installed the floatation behind the side panels, hooked up the T&T and fuel lines. Installed the lights ( stern & bow). Just may have a splash soon. Pics will come soon. I still need to install trailer fenders and side rails (?). The more I do, the more I realize is left to finish. Happy Monday everyone.

Re: 18' Starcraft SS Restoration

More than fair. I have had, shall we say, an experience that I would not wish on anyone. It had put me in the mind set of not caring about boats nor anything that had to do with them. In short, I lost a good friend due to a boat accident. Now that I have somewhat got my head together, I realized the reasoning behind IBoats and the friendship I have been blessed with. I am now back on the boat, and I have launched her. Yes there are stories to tell. Thank you all for your patience and I will awe and inspire you with my wonderful knowledge. ..............OK maybe I will just make you laugh.............OK just maybe I will teach you what not to do.

ok Fine, maybe I'll just bother you.
God Bless You All, Dale

Sorry for your loss Dale. Trying to catch up hereand seems like every time I peek into someones thread it's bad news.

The dash is awesome, from what I've seen. I will have to come back and really give her the once over.

Good luck my Offshore Brother.

Re: 18' Starcraft SS Restoration

Gentlemen & Ladies, I owe you all an apology. It is true that I lost a friend in a boating accident, and it was due to his drinking. It would seem you would get excited about having your boat on the water, ( and he was).Having too many friends that are not taking in your best interest and want to party without helping you is NOT a good idea. In short, stuff happens.
As for myself, I have launched my boat and was somewhat pleased. It does not go very fast with the 115 Johnson and I have discovered I should have paid more attention to the trailer. OH, it does great, but a little more "guidance" would be good . In short guys, God Bless you all, we have had an earthquake & hurricane and doggone it, I am still around to bother you. As of today, I am on my way to Texas to see my granddaughter and son and I promise to bring you all up to date. To my close friends, God Bless..Take Care..and the only thing I can say is forgive me for not keeping in touch. Dale

Try retrieving shallower. May help with your trailer woes. As for the Johnson, what's up with that? You should be hauling butt with that motor.
