My only concern would be how well the empty, topless hull is being supported.

Typically, there is more then a few hours between:

You can do it

and

It's done.

A cradle should be made to keep the hull from distorting

the trailer as poorly fitted as it is seems to keep the hull shape pretty good. Im going to come up with something better asap.

No reason to be sorry that you're getting after it

Look around the resto forum, lots of good info on building a cradle. Several great examples. WOG did a really good mobile base when he built one for the Blue Flamingo. His signature also has a link to good graphics for the work that lies ahead

since it was in a mold when the original stringers and deck were fitted, it might not seem to be outta shape, but you'd like it to be as close as possible to correct so you don't glass a deformation into hull while doing the stringers and etc

Decided to sell the 140s and go another route with the outboard. I want to put an old Mercury back on it. I started tearing down the 61 Mercury 700 fgs yesterday, not sure if its worth saving. So If anyone has any knowledge of where an old mercury might be please let me know, within reasonable distance to Southeast Alabama. I would love to find a complete 61 Merc 700 full gear shift parts motor in hopes to make one a runner...

It's in SaltLakeCity, I'm in WV, hence the facepalm.... It's 1950mi one way..... I have a plan to go get it though, and a few iboaters and other boat forum 'friends' to stop by along the route..... Come on May 1 ;)

My motivation was the BOAT but I'll gladly take a running vintage motor to though :)

Sorry everyone, But I have been slowly losing interest in this even before pulling the transom... After thinking about it a while, I have decided to let it go. I have a couple people interested already so maybe they will actually complete it and yall will see it on the water at some point..
