Depends where you are. I've seen them sell for $250 to $300 here in Minnesota, land of the outboard.

I'll tell you...I'd sure like to find a good-running 1960 10 hp Johnson for $100-150 around here. I'd buy it in an instant.

I have a 12' SeaKing aluminum boat that's rated for a 10 hp. I can get parts for a 1960 easily, and it's a good old reliable twin.

I'd take that any day over one of the ugly 9.5's from the mid-60s. They're a PITA to work on with that fat housing.

Sadly, I can't find a 1960 10hp in my area for anything close to that price.

I have a really nice one,I even bought it for that price but after i start it in 1 pull and let it run for awhile it gets really hot & although it is still running full throtle the propeller stops to a slow speed and eventually kills the motor because of overheating. ever heard of the that?

:eek::eek::eek::redface:

I believe the '60 model has a thermostat. It could be that, or the water pump, or a couple of other things. Question: Does your motor spit water out of the exhaust relief in the back of the midsection?
Overheating your motor like that has probably cause multiple other problems, i.e. melted water tube grommet under powerhead, warped head and leaky head gasket, burnt exhaust cover gaskets.
good luck with it,
JBJ
