Cool design Jim! You're always thinking outside the box man!

Have you considered modifying the splashwell...shortening it a bit & giving the cross-brace a convex outer line?

I can visualize it on your jet...if you would've carried the same lines from the middle & dash to the rear, I think you get the best of both worlds? :noidea:

Instead of tilting the motor you could install a power jack plate and use it to raise the motor vertically if you wont have room to tilt it. It would also kick the motor back further to allow you to build the transom design you want above the waterline. I know it is not the intended purpose of the jack plate but I think it would do the trick.
Just a thought.

Re: 1960's Falcon Rebuild (New Title)

Thanks guys....

BF and JC --- The Admiral and I went out and spent some contemplation time and the Admiral acting as the voice of reason (as usual!), felt that it would be best to hang the motor on the transom as it was intended. However, that arc you saw in with the noodle will still be done... but as it nears the motor, it will dip down to the regular transom height and I will create a small splashwell.

So... here is the first of two videos.... The first one is a Nov/Dec recap and the second is my attempt at flipping the boat!

Recap:

Next post.....

 at least there's no paint to scratch!

Block-n-tackle would be a nice addition to the hanger Jim!

The right connection is tied-off to an eye-bolt.
The middle is a double pulley.
the left is a single-pulley
and it's a double-pulley on the bow-eye.

Thanks for the videos Jim! That thing looks lighter than I thought.

Awesome shine, how did the Collinite work out for ya, any thoughts pro/con.

Congrats.

Thanks JB ---- yup feels good to have it back right side up for sure!

BlueFin16 - at least there's no paint to scratch!

Block-n-tackle would be a nice addition to the hanger Jim!

Another 2 feet and that would have been a bear on my own like that. I did my 16' outside with the Admiral and it was still a bit tricky at certain inflection points! BnT would have worked great!

GA_Boater - Keel down again. All is right in the world.

Yes-rrrr-eeee-bob!

dozerII - Boy was that dejavu for me Jim, but she is on the dolly and ready to proceed. Great shine by the way.

All overagain man! I thought that the dolly would have been able to stay more "grounded".... but being a tri-pod, it just wanted to wag it's tail way up in the air!

Thanks --- shine is good enough for me!

astor - Thanks for the videos Jim! That thing looks lighter than I thought.

Thanks Astor... I would guess it weights in around the 200# mark give or take. As usual at this stage, the bow weights more than the stern... but it is a lot lighter than the Jupiter.

Collinite ---go lightly! I thought I was --- but wasn't. Even lightly is tough to get polished up by hand. It does though... just needs a little effort. This stuff feels much more substantial though... really curious as to how it holds up to being immersed for 3 months a year. I'll report back after this summer and let everyone know how it does.

Have a great Monday fellas!

Jim

No apologies needed man! That kinda stuff is a regular occurrence in my shop too.... prolly actually in everyone who builds a boat! Thing is that most of that stuff goes on not caught on video.... Glen's was classic. I really thought I had it in the bag... no issues.... ahhh yup... not quite so! What I didn't film was cleaning up and vacuuming up after all the debris that I spilled during the flip! My 6 year old was like --- "what happened in here Captain Slow?"

Glad you got a laugh... :)

Hey Jim,

Been lurking around the your Jupiter build, and now the Falcon learning some tin skill for my project..... I must say the Jupiter is an incredible work of art brutha, and I'm sure the Falcon will follow suit.

With all due respect that boat flip had me in tears laughing also. That's real good stuff! I wasn't even gonna watch it until I saw Jas comments... All sort of shenanigans in my garage as well...

Peace!

For sure Jim is one of the leaders, most of us are barely qualified to sweep up his polishing dust. But we're working on it.

No, Jim is Canadian. You know the guys that don't plan on sending the SOTY plaque south any time soon.:D
