Re: 1960's Falcon Rebuild (New Title)

Thanks Jim, next time I'm in the city I will stop at home hardware for some of that stuff. I bought a gallon can of aircraft striper $54.00 and it doesn't work as well as that stuff and the smell is gross. Good video.

I took away two things from the vid. Don't use the Admirals tools. And "Scoop The Goop". :joyous:

Makin' it look easy, IM. Nice job.

Thanks fellas!

One other thing... it really doesn't take 12 hrs before it is ready... a couple max is all it takes. But, cause I still work to pay the bills or sleep in the night, I leave 8-12 hrs between slopping it on and scooping the goop! :)

Ok, I'm in, anybody know where to get Natura Safe Strip in the US?

Or a similar stripper made from the same stuff:

  • SOFT WATER
  • BENZYL ALCOHOL
  • MONOETHANOLAMINE
  • POE 20 SORBITAN MONOOLEATE
  • XANTHAN GUM

Great video series! Thanks

I completely agree w/ the nastiness of the aircraft stripper & it's toxic suit requirements :blue:

Does the Natura do as well for 8-12hrs when it's warm out? Or work as well in cool temps as it does in your workshop?

Lastly, do you find that when it's above 60F+/- that you need to cover it w/ plastic? I seem to remember on the Jet you (or someone) mentioned covering stripper w/ plastic to let it work on the paint for extended times........

As a secondary mount or mobile mount, either of these would serve you well, and are bottom feeder friendly:
$_12.JPG
twist mount flexible camera mount (Evil-bay)

Or:
BBUMINITRIPOD-2.jpg
Flexible tripod....

Thanks again, looking forward to the series.

Ya... I was concerned that you guys in the US would find out that us Canuks really don't have 2 heads and 3 arms! Sorry to disappoint man!

JB -- it really does work well in + or - 60 F. I don't notice to much difference... other than I suppose it seams to work better if it is warmer in the Shed than not.

You can order the stuff online from Home Hardware - Home --- it doesn't say what it is made of on the container... but it does not have methylene chloride or sodium hydroxide.

I am going to see if I can borrow my FIL's mini stand or I might just pop for one of those below.... it's really not that easy for my big paws to pick up the camera and not drop it and not get it dirty!

Thanks for staying with me on this!

Have a great night fellas....

Jim

The HH site is where I got the ingredient list... But I didn't see an online order for the Natura. I'll check again....

Re: 1960's Falcon Rebuild (New Title)

Their website or internet provider may be able to 'see' that I'm not in Canada, and only allows input of Canadian zip codes in the search for local HH store link.

So no online ordering as far as I can see....................

Maybe one of the borderland Starmadians will start a smuggling stripper across the border business.

Wait, that ^^^ doesn't sound good. No, that's not right either. Sounds good, just much more illicit then I originally intended.

BTW: Did the Admiral notice you'd co-opted the scrub brush before or after you replaced it?

Hey Guys,

My wife's bookkeepers brother own's a Home Hardware store.... I am going to speak to her and see if there is anything that can be setup so that there could be a "Starcraft Exclusive" relationship setup.

I'll keep you guys posted...

JB --- Ya... she caught me before I replaced it... and a few other things I "borrowed" on a permanent basis!

Glen ---- Picked up a litre yesterday! Great price.

As soon as I heard flour I was thinkin' flying skillets any second. :scared: Glad you asked the Admiral. :)

That's a great tip to thicken the goop for side stripping. Thanks loads. :D

Re: 1960's Falcon Rebuild (New Title)

Nice work figuring out the flour thickening agent.

As expected, E3 & 4 were also great, thanks for taking the time to shoot & post the videos.

Sounds like a 'new' way to polish a hull is pending in E5 or 6

Have a good end to the weekend.
