Hey guys do you know what wire from the mangeto ignition that I use to hook up the tack. Is it the wire on the outside of the magneto box that goes to the juction box with all the wires? I know that there are two black wires on goes to the magneto box on the bolt that's out it and then goes to the coil in side the magento box. the other black wire goes to a ground on the block and the brown wire it the temp light. The white wire goes to the kill switch. what wire do i hook a tack up to? or do I add a wire and to were?

The wire on the outside of the distributor is the only one that makes any sernse. Do you have the proper tach?

I have a newer tach but it works with magneto ignition and you can ajust for how many slinders. I have the book for the motor but it dosent tell you wich wire to hook up a tach to. arent tach's usaily hook up to the negative side of the coil?

That distributor wire is the only side on the coil that is not grounded. it is the only place to hook it up. Since it is a magneto system, there is no negative side of the coil.

You connect the tach to the wire that goes to the stud on the side of the magneto. The tachometer "sees" the breaker points opening and closing and counts how many times it happens per minute.

Now that I've answered that, tell me where you found a tachometer that will work on a magneto. Many need to know that answer.
