Man is your boat sweet. I am planning on painting mine soon. Can you point me in the right directions on where to buy the paint and what to ask for? What type of paint is it that you used? She sure came out looking very sharp.

Thanks Raul. I used Petit Easypoxy on my boat. I used bright white and gloss black. Petit Easypoxy is a one part polyurethane so you don't have to mix the paint, just shake it well. I bought my paint online, but I'd rather not post the site on a public board because I'm not sure the rules allow. If you'd like, I can send you a private message where I got it.

Yes please send me a PM on where you got the paint please. You rolled the paint or did you spray? And can you tell me where to buy that compound to clean up the windshield? Thanks

Great job, you should be proud! I'm in the process of restoring a 1965 starcraft. Easy compared to what you did:eek:. You must have ALOT of patience, WOW!

Raul - I sent you a PM about the paint. I found the plexiglass cleaner (Novus) on Amazon.com. I bought the big kit, but the small kit would have worked. I really like that stuff - amazing what it can do to old plexiglass.

Thanks carvemeone - but I am not a patient person at all - far from it! I still have a lot of stuff to do to the boat. I have to install a bilge pump (I have a hand pump at the moment), I still have to carpet the bow area (only the rear part is carpeted at the moment), paint the inside of the transom, hide some wires, etc. Lots of little things left to do.

We've had so many nice weekends that I'm not getting any work done. I keep taking the boat out and playing instead. :D Hopefully we'll have some bad weather soon so I can do some more work on it.

Steve, can you by chance, pm me or email me some directions on how I could make a bimni top like yours? What materials to get and maybe where to get them? I would really like to try to make one. Thanks, your boat is inspirational to all DIYers!

I'll try to get some drawings of the setup today and get them scanned and put up later today.

A few people have asked me about the speakers in the bow. I'm running two 12" Rockford Fosgate subs. I have just enough room for these speakers and the battery up front.

The top pull switch turns the amps on, the middle and bottom switches aren't used. I plan to use one for the running lights, and the other for the bilge pump.

Good looking project man and very nice work. How many layers of 4oz. cloth did you put down on the floor? How many layers on the stringers?

I would send your before and after pictures to Larson. I bet they would appreciate seeing something older like that being restored with a little flare from the 'new school' so to speak.

Re: 1961 Larson All-American 14'

Thanks Doug. The plywood floor was saturated with epoxy before it was placed in the boat. (My fiberglass hadn't arrived at the time, but I had some epoxy so I sealed it.) Then I epoxied the floor into the boat using epoxy/wood flour mixture. I then glassed the edges in using 4" fiberglass tape. The last thing I did was epoxy 1 layer of 4oz. fiberglass cloth over the floor, tape, and a few inches up the sides.

I've read through this whole thread, and enjoyed all of it. I'd also like to know how you made your own Bimini top, it really sets the boat off.

Beautiful boat, well done, you inspire me to keep trying. :)
