Hello to everyone-
I just purchased 3 motors one of which is this Gale, it is the best of the bunch. It is model number 5D20B and serial number 830919.
This is my very first motor ever purchased.
The current speed setting is slow and mixture is set to rich and then there is the choke knob as well. It starts right up after giving some choke and opening the throttle half-way.
However, while underway it sometimes seems like it slips out of gear but I don't hear anything or feel anything it just kind of stops propelling while still running and eventually shuts off.
I has also just shut off while underway.
I know it could be more reliable than it currently is. I'm just not sure at this point how to get it running better.
Anyone know where or how to find a repair manual?
I'm currently reading Peter Hunn's 'classic outboard motor handbook' to try to learn something.
I have never worked on any kind of motor, but would like to learn and get this one running strong again.
If anybody knows of any suggested readings or other helpful information for the mechanically challenged I would appreciate it.
Cheers,
Hopin4boatin
