I have a 1964 West Bend 35 HP and am trying to figure out if it has an altenator or not? It has electric start and has a wiring panel on the port side of the engine that is about
1"x5" with 8 wires coming and going. If it does not have an altenator, why so many wires? I replaced the entire wiring harness, making sure I hooked everything back up the way it was before but when the motor is running and the battery disconnected, there is no juice. There are 3 wires at the ignition switch that were dead ended (not sure why, like that when I bought it) and I did the same when I replaced all of the wiring. I thought that maybe I was having a short before because all of the wires were badly coroded and I figured that was why I was not getting any juice. If it does have an altenator and mine is bad, where do I get one and what all is involved with taking the flywheel off? I will take some pictures tomorow and post them.
