the name isnt red by the way haha. thats the sport name of the school i went to. well its not everyday that you see a kid rebuilding a boat that is 25 years older than him lol. im glad i can rebuild it though, it used to be my grandfathers and he died back in '92

Yours didnt come with decals on it it had plastic tags on the sides near the rear of the boat but as luck would have it Northbeach has someone who is making new ones out of metal that look fantastic and I bet if you talked nice to him he would get you a set reasonably :D.

I personally am quite happy to see a young fella on here restoring one . I have 5 kids between 14 and 24 and I dont think between them theres enough gumption to restore a light bulb much less an entire boat . Keep at it and we will do everything we cn to walk you through it and have it nicer than it was when it was new ( and hopefully not break the bank ) :D.

I call you Red cause thats a part of your screen name thats easy to use your more than welcome to give me another one :D. I think the only member of the Starcraft club who we dont know on a first name basis is Northbeach :D.

the name is gavin by the way:) i am very happy to be rebuilding this boat. i was gunna but one for like 2000 but i decided to take this one instead. i has the metal starcraft symbols but i was looking at the black stripes that go from front to back. i think that would make the boat look perty:D

Okie dokie Gavin :D . The stripes if you just want straight ones you can find at most auto parts or automotive paint stores .

I would say if you sink near $2000.00 into that boat and do all the work yourself you will have alot more bot than the one you could have gotten for $2000.00 plus its a family heirloom :D. Also if you fix it up nice and keep it up then someday your kids will be able to use it which will mean 4 generations of your family will have enjoyed the same boat ( not alot of peple can say that ) .

My Starcraft is actually 3 years younger than me but I do have a boat thats 3 years older and one thats 7 years older than me  . I think Noah used the older one originally LOL.

Send a PM to Tashasdaddy. I KNOW he has a diagram of how to hook up the cable steering.

On the windshield, you'd be surprise what you can make work. I was able to go from this:

to this:

Got it on eBay from someone parting out and old bowrider. Bowed it out a little bit and it ended up conforming to the contour of my bow perfectly.

what did you do with the old windshield?? if i got a windshield like that one what would i use to mount it with? do you think i could turn mine into a bowrider or is that not a good idea??

I trashed the old windshield. It had a big crack in it BEFORE a huge tree branch fell on it! I was able to mount the new windshield by just dropping some machine screws down through the frame and into the deck. I figured I would eventually have to replace them with bolts but it's still rock solid. I would not try to convert yours into a bowrider. Cheaper and easier just to find a hull like what you want.

There is a Starcraft club member with a Boat just like EZ's who saved his old windshield . I dont remember off the top of my head who he is but I know he has posted recently in the Starcraft forum.

Re: 1964 starcraft 14' fury rebuild

any thoughts on what to do with the seats?? im thinking re-doing them but idk how crappy the foam is. how can i mount the seats without drilling through the side of the boat? last time i put them in i drilled 2 holes in the boat that went right outside of it. i put some rtv sealant on them about 3 or 4 years ago so i bet it wont leak haha

Gavin I would say recovering the seats wouldnt be to bad . I would remove the covers carefully and take them apart to use as patterns as far as the foam you can get foam at most fabric stores to replace it with if you need to . On mounting them there should be brackets in the boat on the sides to mount the seats to . I have a PILE of 3/16" closed end rivets if they will work to fill the holes you made lst time :D.

Clean her up sand her down slap on a nice coat or 8 of paint :D. The interior I personally would try to recover myself and then take her out and enjoy her .
