Wiring --- so much fun! I know this isn't as clean as some of you all do, but it's definitely a big improvement on the original.

Switch panel has a setting for "zombie lights" which I'm using for red and green led strips mounted up under the gunwales.

Also installed speakers for Bluetooth stereo

Next time I do this, I'm going to get the steering cable in place before running the wiring or doing anything with the consoles.

The rack barely shoehorned under the console, and still needed a cutout in the side panel. Oh well, it's in and it works.

Oh yeah another fine old Starcraft returns to the waves! :whoo:

Nice work Dab, some motor fine tuning and work is always one of the things we find ourselves doing after the initial splash. Sounds like you're on the right track with it being a fuel issue.

Congratulations on a successful splash! She looks real good on the water. Nice job on the rebuild too. I don't think I have the guts to try a bowectomy. I think yours turned out great:encouragement:

Thanks for the kind words Waterman and TNSF! It's definitely an air leak from the connector going into the motor. Switched with a new connector but still getting air if the hose flexes at all (especially turns to starboard). Has anyone ever added an extra o ring or rubber washer to the male connector to help boost the seal?

Does the primer bulb go flaccid? Normally fuel will leak out if air will leak in. I ended up buying the moeller fuel line fittings for the tank and they're super tight compared to the attwood brand.

No bulb does not go flaccid and fuel does leak out at the motor connector when bulb is squeezed

Got this 33 cent neoprene washer ( forgot to record size -- it is 1/16" thick and fits snugly on a 10-24 bolt). Slid it into the male prong of the connector fitting, and it allows the connector to click into place but doesn't allow it to rock side to side. Seems to stop all fuel leakage. Hopefully true for air!

Haven't gotten back out yet, but it's staying pretty pressurized in the afternoon heat, thanks also to new EPA approved 9 gal moeller fuel tank.

Congratulations on the splash a few days late but I'm sure you are just as happy with it.. Boat looks great hopefully you have the fuel issue licked. My build ground to a slow missed my holiday dead line. Blew my back out several weeks ago got a few things done but no pictures. Been a bit disappointed spending the first few days of a week long holiday at the lake with no boat. Motor I had lined up fell through guess was not ment to be.

The washer did the trick! Went out again last evening and had absolutely zero problems. Kick in the pants hole shot and 36.5 mph at 5400 rpm WOT. The only real issue was a tendency to ventilate if I mashed the throttle during hole shot. Trying to work out a way to show video.

FYI the BRP Johnson/Evinrude fuel line assemblies, while expensive, are WAY better quality than the Attwood, Moeller, etc assemblies. Well worth it. I've had the primer bulbs harden up on some of the cheaper ones after as little as one season.

Hey that's great to hear, always nice to come up with a cheap fix for such things. :thumb:

You Tube is about the only way I know of to reliably port video.

First trip on the lake with the family. No pic from the trip but we had a great time. Installed Bimini top and swim platform beforehand. The swim platform was especially appreciated because it makes climbing back into the boat much much easier than it was with the underhung ladder on the Mark Twain (3rd pic)

I'm really happy with how this hull & motor handle. Zero porpoising, even trimmed way up. Feels really stable in the turns. The only issue is that I may need to lower the motor one hole, because I'm getting a fair bit of ventilating on acceleration.
